It's a well-known story. Cosmetics companies have had a really hard time adapting to the concept that women come in a range of skin tones. While the creative forces at makeup companies have made some progress towards adding darker shades to their foundation and powder collections and pigment-heavy eyeshadows and blushes to their color offerings, there has been little movement toward incorporating shades suitable for Asian skin. Enter Thi Cosmetics.

Driven by her desire "to help every day women become their own makeup artist," Taylor Pham, the founder of Thi Cosmetics, developed custom colors designed to be flattering to yellow undertones. And she didn't stop there. From blushes in colors particularly suited to yellow undertones (right), to a range of eyeshadows developed to compliment the dark brown eyes of Asian women, to false eyelashes designed to fit and flatter smaller, almond shaped eyes (top left), Taylor really did think of everything. She even designed specially shaped, extra small eyeshadow blending brushes to make blending shadows over smaller eyes and into hard to reach creases a snap. Nice. Asian beauty has a new champion.
