FOUND: Cynthia Nixon's SATC Shift Dress

Cynthia Nixon as Miranda wearing Maggy London
photo: people.com

With all the talk of Manolos and Dolce & Gabbana, it would be easy to assume that you have to have a Mr. Big sized bank account to dress like a Sex and the City character. Not so. It seems that even our favorite newly-minted big screen fashionistas know how to spot a fabulous deal.

I'll bet that one of the first stills you saw from the Sex and the City movie was this street scene featuring Charlotte, Carrie and Miranda. And, if you are like me, you were probably shocked at how chic and fashion-forward no-nonsense Miranda had become in the past few years. Right? Miranda may have upped her fashionista quotient, but her practicality didn't take a vacation in the process.

Want to steal Cynthia Nixon as Miranda's chic art deco print shift dress style? She's wearing the very affordable Print Silk Twill Shift Dress from department store label Maggy London. This simple shaped dress gets a stylish kick from a stark black and white art-inspired print. I think it looks perfectly mod in its natural state, but you can get instant polish by adding a belt a la Miranda. This dress could easily accompany you to a work-related party, but a quick change of accessories would make it equally appropriate for date night or cocktails with the girls. Who would have guessed that dressing like a Sex and the City character could be so inexpensive and easy?
