Growing up, my mom had a friend named Rita who rocked a super short haircut and loved flaunting her confidence by wearing gigantic hoop earrings. Today, I think of Rita often because the hoop trend is still surrounding us in the fashion world. I love when I see ladies wearing the hoop earrings without hesitation, alongside limited jewelry. Hoop earrings have a lot of attitude, and I love the fact that they look great on ladies with short or long hair, despite what some fashion experts say. Hoops also look stunning with pulled back hair, as well as with layered hair with some bangs.

J.Lo is one big fan of hoop earrings; she loves wearing her sassy hoops as often as she can. Every music video she is in shows her dancing to her own beat with some large hoops, giving her flashbacks of her identity growing up in the Bronx-- the bigger the hoop, the bigger the attitude. I like the idea of wearing gutsy bold hoops as a way to relay confidence. Not everyone can afford J.Lo’s bling’d out pave earrings, but that’s okay, because it's hard to carry around the weight of real heavy authentic hoop earrings anyway.

Since turquoise is a summer color, and hoops are back in style, why not combine the two? The Francesca's Collections Cassandra Hoops are a great, “all in one” pair. The precious turquoise stones are embedded in crinkled hoops giving them a simple, work appropriate look. These earrings are definitely a toned down version of most gem embedded hoops. Perfect for the less daring chicas!

Moving on to a lot of sass and attitude, Bloomingdales is carrying ABS by Allen Schwartz Pavé Hoop Earrings that give off a bold vibe. I wouldn’t recommend wearing them to work. These earrings give off enough glam to stun an Oscar crowd. This pair is limiting, and needs to be paired with a less eccentric outfit. The doorknocker kind of tones them a bit, creating a softer subtle look-perfect for a classic French twist.

Heading towards the East, Kate Spade surprises me with her Cortes Paillette Hoop Earrings. A good surprise, of course! Gearing away from her traditional design, she went exotic and came up with these textured hoops that will dramatically change your look by brightening up your face. I would not go makeup crazy and start pasting all kinds of colors on my face when wearing the Cortes earrings. Wear them with a simple maxi dress or a bright mini dress, and you will be the sriracha chili sauce to any occasion. Being spicy is a good thing when you’re from the East!
