Fashion Cents: Velvet Fashion for Fall & Winter

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 • View Comments • Permalink

--By Kimberly Turner

Velvet does double duty – twice!

First, most people only think of velvet around this time of the year – holiday season. But this fall/winter velvet is a key trend. Now, you don’t have to wait until egg nog is pouring and mistletoe is being hung to pull out your favorite velvet pieces.

Second, velvet isn’t just for after five. While this luxurious fabric adds glam to your evening attire, it can also work with your day time attire. Pair a velvet jacket with a sheath dress or a velvet blouse with a tweed skirt for work appropriate looks. Plus, you can always add velvet to denim to dress up the casual look. Hmmm...I guess that makes triple duty for velvet.

So don’t just wear velvet once or twice to some evening affair this holiday season, enjoy wearing it all day and all fall/winter long. Make sense?
