Yes, it’s here... not Christmas, but New Year's. As much as I love to leave this year and enter a New Year with hope, I dread looking for a New Year’s Eve dress. The pressure of looking good and feeling good that night is overwhelming. That’s why I already started looking around. I’m over seeing the typical black dress and the overly-sequined outfits, and instead choose to enter 2010 with a bright colored dress with confidence. Black is so blah to bring in the New Year.

I have three sexy, bright, bold colored dresses that will bring in the New Year with lots of sass and impeccable style. My three New Year's Eve dress selections vary in style and fanciness. My first pick is a dress that is beyond glamorous, but the downfall is you would only re-wear it to a wedding reception or a seriously glam charity event. Besides the re-wearing factor, the dress is sophisticated and bold. The Royal Purple Charmeuse Evening Gown by Alyce Designs is stunning with a capital S! The dress is a long gown with a jeweled neck and bust-line. Although the jewels add a glitzy touch to the dress, it is rather simple and tasteful. The gown also comes with extra material for an optional grand entrance with a train, or perhaps to cover your shoulders for some warmth. Either way, this is a great pick for a New Year's Eve party at a fancy hotel or a black-tie cocktail party.

Toning it down a bit from the purple gown, I love this French Connection "Fast Flash" cotton dress in Sunshine. The yellow mini is so sexy and fun. It’s a great dress to rock the dance floor in and there is a lot of re-wearing potential with this dress. This would be a great choice if you’re going to an intimate cocktail party or a bar for New Year's Eve. The dress is a very casual, yet the bow tie across the bodice spices it up. The two front pockets make it seem youthful and versatile, giving it a summer appeal-- just imagine wearing it with some jeweled turquoise sandals. It’s wonderful to know you can wear something from season to season!

Lastly, I kind of gave in to a half-black dress. The Bebe Colorblock Off-the Shoulder Mini Dress is called “Heartbreaker,” and I think it would do just that. Actually, now that I think about it, it would be a great dress for a run-in with the ex. I love that the collarbones are visible and the combination of red and black is always so mysterious and sexy. The stretchy material hides all the fluff, and shows off all the assets.
