I've never given much thought to Easter-inspired fashion. And by that, I mean that I didn't realize that Easter-inspired fashion for people over the age of 11 even existed. But, today I got a little note from the team at Juicy Couture about their "guiltless gift ideas" for Easter-- all the sweet, none of the calories. I have to admit, they were really adorable. So, I thought I'd share.

My favorite is the Juicy Couture Wish Bunny Necklace pictured here. This necklace is crafted from 14k gold plated brass with glass accents that create a sparkly eye effect. While the bunny motif is perfect for Easter gifting, I think the bunny really has come to be a kind of universal sign of spring and would work just as well as a whimsical addition to any warm-weather outfit.

Fashion Cents: Tips for Strutting into Spring

Spring has finally sprung and I am both excited and fearful of what the warm weather will bring (out). I am excited for the spring trends to come off the runway and into my real way. I just do NOT want someone who can NOT walk in their new spring shoes to run smack-dab into me. So to protect myself (and you too), I have come up with three tips for shopping the new spring shoe trends. Now the tips aren’t all about the shoes:

1. Taking care of the feet – NOBODY, not just me, wants to look at ugly feet with peeling nail polish in beautiful sandals. I’m using Chanel’s Particulière this spring thanks to Stephanie…you’ll see.

2. Shopping for the right shoes – just because they are in trend doesn’t mean someone should buy them. They should make sure they fit their style and wardrobe. A cuff sandal on someone who only wears slacks is a waste of a shoe.

3. Walking the right way – If they could only practice walking in their new shoes, and for that matter their old shoes too. It is so NOT sexy to see a woman stumble down the street.

Fashion Classics: Updated Pearls

Pearls fascinate me for many reasons, but most of all because they always look marvelous on women. When it comes to Pearls, it’s not about trendy fashion, but about their ability to be timeless. The range of colors is unbelievable-- champagne to black-- and you can mix and match pearls with every kind of stone imaginable. Every piece of clothing can be worn beautifully alongside pearls.

It’s hard for me to choose between a single strand of pearls or a multi-layered necklace because they have a similar chic affect, although multiple strand pearls come off as more flirty. Nonetheless, it’s impossible to go wrong with this classic look. There is a reason that every gorgeous Hollywood star as far as I can remember has embraced pearls like a true best friend.

Buying the real thing isn’t always the best option, especially if you want different kinds of pieces. The Aqua Faux Pearl and Chain Bracelet is as close to the real thing as it gets. The triple layer strands are met with bold multi-chain backing. I love the innocent, classic look with and edgy twist. Pearls also give a fairy tale feel. A dreamy world can be envisioned when wearing pearls. I think princesses and pearls go perfectly together, and I think the Chico's Laranece Necklace's luminous cascade of pearls on illusion wire make it seem unreal it’s so pretty. I love the random inconsistency of light colored pearls that are different shapes and sizes, creating a soft yet head turning look. In the midst of all the pearl layers there are random glass beads that help harmonize the large amount of pearls-- any plain v-neck will be embellished with this extraordinary necklace. Lastly, I love single pearl rings because of the statement they make but, it’s so fun to have a cluster pearl ring as a fun laid back cocktail ring. The Kate Spade Pearl Sparkle Ring features glossy pink faux pearls and gem studded clusters, which gives the ring a lot of voice and character. Every cluster gains much more boldness with that extra sparkle. It’s like the bad girl version of the typical classic pearl ring settings. Bright and bold in its own way, this rings is a must have.

I've been toying with the idea of purchasing a sequin sweatshirt for a while now, but I've had trouble locating an appropriate sequin sweatshirt. The best versions are crazy expensive and, let's be real, I'm not throwing down $400 for a top that may or may not turn out to be a versatile wardrobe item. I have found versions at cheapie mall stores, but they look cheap. Low-priced sequins are rarely a good idea. So, this new mid-priced sequin sweatshirt find is looking pretty great.

Spring Fashion: Classic Polka Dots

Polka dots are a fun loving style that has existed since way before my time. It’s true that this super hip trend can look juvenile if worn wrong, but it also can add a lot of spunk to a simple look, like the polka dots worn high necked and long by Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. She wore a brown dress with white polka dots, and polished off the look with red lipstick. Keeping the look simplistic is what makes her look so admirable.

As usual, I like to ease into some trends. There are those who are hesitant to embrace the polka dot trend, including me at times. So, why not try some girly earrings with a fun up-do. Betsey Johnson’s Miami Chic Drop Earrings are polka-dot hearts surrounded by little sparkly stones that drip down from a tiny black rose.

Heading closer to Julia’s classy outfit, my favorite polka dot dress-- the DKNY Combo Dot Tank Dress-- suits the warm season’s trends with its short hemline. With its retro stripes, polka dots and floppy sash belt this dress is something right out of the hit '50s show Mad Men. I adore this dress because it’s not a polka dot overload, but a simplified version of a classic look that will never lose its charm. The dress looks like it’s a two-piece because of its classic black and white tank separated by a thick black belt tied in a bow that starts the extension of the black skirt decorated with large white polka dots. Below the polka dot pattern is a thick red trim that marks the end of the sassy design. I love the way the stripes and dots balance beautifully to create such a polished look.

Those who like to cover their legs may want to think about grabbing this carefree Bebe Cool Dot Maxi Dress, which comes in both black in white. The featured dress is black with tiny white polka dots. The long length of this dress is sexified by the button closures. So, if you’re in the mood to show more skin then usual it’s an easy and quick adjustment. Eyes are the first thing people see, so it should be a priority to take excellent care of the skin around your eyes. My mom has been on me about using under eye creams for a year now, and she won’t stop asking me if I’m consistent with my regime because she knows that our family is not blessed when it comes to our eyes. My mother hardly has any wrinkles, but she does have under-eye puffiness and darker undertones. Although her constant nagging drove me up the wall, it did get me to be proactive and do some research by asking friends, family, and co-workers what the best under eye creams are to prevent aging.

Obviously getting enough sleep, staying hydrated and staying clear of stress are great preventatives, but unfortunately they don’t solve the problem as a whole. The skin around the eyes is so delicate and sensitive that it is hard to skip an under-eye treatment when you have bad under-eye genetics like me. I have noticed that my eyes reflect more of how I feel the older I get, and it is harder to maintain that fresh, rejuvenated look.

I am a denim freak. It's kind of a California thing, I think, this obsession with denim. It's born into us, and the generally laid-back vibe that permeates even the most urban California cities does nothing to change the pro-denim culture. I can count on my fingers the restaurants and other establishments where you literally can't get in wearing denim. As long as your jeans are appropriately refined, you're good to go. So, it's normal for a California fashionista to have a wardrobe of jeans that reaches well into double-digits. I count over 30 pair in rotation in my closet. From skinny to super wide, destroyed to dark rinse, there's a pair for every occasion. With this level of denim devotion brewing, you'd think I'd be super psyched about the new spring denim trend, right? Well, not quite.

For spring, denim has migrated well beyond jeans and the occasional jean jacket to a whole range of fashion items. Spring denim is being found in shoes, handbags, dresses, blouses and more. Even the jean jackets are new and different, with super soft denim chambray replacing traditional rugged denim construction. This denim trend is reaching from the runways, where it was spotted at Jason Wu and others, straight to the mall, with stores like Gap setting up entire spring denim collections. Spring Beauty: Perfectly Shaved Legs

Since the runways were bombarded with everything itsy-bitsy for spring, I think it’s important to re-evaluate shaving methods, especially if you are the lucky gal who can rock sassy short skirts. Getting smooth, hairless legs can be difficult if you're under a time crunch. But, if you do it right, you can skip a day. I recommend making sure you have three things: a loofah, a moisturizing shaving cream for sensitive skin, and a good razor to ensure a close shave. These three things will change the look of your legs instantly by giving you smooth, sexy legs that are mini-skirt ready.

The first thing you want to do is exfoliate. Use a loofah before you shave because it will get rid of soap, dirt and lotion so you can shave over residue-free legs. The Body Shop’s Cactus Scrub Mitt is a great way to exfoliate without drying your skin out because it is made of natural sisal. Scrubbing your legs may sound odd, but, in addition to removing dead skin cells, it also gets your blood flowing and keeps the skin looking vibrant and youthful.

After you’ve scrubbed your legs clean, it’s very helpful to get your hands on a moisturizing shaving cream because it will prevent irritation. I recommend using either Skintimate Moisturizing Shave Gel or Aveeno Shave Gel. I use both because they protect against the nicks and cuts, keeping legs moisturized. The Skintimate has eight different conditioners, emollients and lubricants while the Aveeno is made with natural colloidal oatmeal and contains no added fragrance. If your hair is thick and coarse and you’re sensitive to fragrances, definitely use the Aveeno. I use Aveeno around my bikini area and it prevents a lot of ingrown hairs. But, if you like a fresh smell after you shave, the Skintimate will be your number one choice.

When it comes to a razor, I like to man it up and use a Gillette Mach3 Turbo razor. The three-blade razor is pretty incredible-- don’t let it intimidate you. The Mach3 gives the smoothest hairless finish your legs could ask for by evenly removing hair effortlessly. This new version even has lubricant strips to keep your legs protected and soft. This razor won’t let you down. Think of it this way, if it removes hair off a guys face without scratching it up then surely your legs will be in great hands.

Let’s just say I wish listened to my mother and refrained from dying my hair at age 15. It was awful. I bought a box at the drugstore and tried to highlight my own hair and it turned orange. Although it was a complete disaster, it was a perfect excuse to head to the salon for professional highlights. After 6 years of repeated hair abuse I tried to dye my hair a natural brown, but it ended up black. The black was equally hard to maintain, but hid the damage better by giving my hair and look a polished finish. Meanwhile, a few months ago I started craving a dramatic change and headed to the salon instead of the drugstore this time to get my locks lightened.

I’m still in the process of going caramel-blonde from black hair but, let me tell you, it’s stressful on the hair. Fashion Cents: Tuxedo-Inspired Fashion

Ladies, now it is your turn to “wear the pants”. Okay, not really, but you can at least consider tuxedo pants. I know when you think of a “tux” you think of men at a formal event all looking the same in their indistinguishable tuxedos. BUT, why not consider tuxedo inspired pieces to dress up your casual apparel and give your formal look a menswear inspired twist that WILL make you stand out in the crowd?

I recently went to a fashion show in one of my wardrobe staples – the white shirt. It happened to have tuxedo detailing, from the collar down to the French cuffs with rhinestone cufflinks. As I watched the show at arms length from anyone who might spill a drink on my crisp white shirt, I was delighted to see an array of tuxedo inspired apparel. From cotton pants to long dresses, the menswear influence was an interesting juxtaposition for these very feminine runway looks.

Many of the classic pieces, including my white shirt, could have just blended in with everything else but the tuxedo detailing helped it to stand apart. So whether you are going to your 9 to 5, dressing up for a formal event or just casually hanging with friends, consider adding a little “tux” to distinguish your look? Make sense?
