Splurge: Rick Owens Wedge Clogs

RICK OWENS WEDGE CLOGS
Rick Owens Wedge Clogs

$1,095.00
Available at: ssense.com

Finally, a pair of clogs I can believe in!

Yes, I've heard all the rumors-- clogs, and their clog-like progeny, are all the rage for Spring '10. Ick. How did that happen? Somewhere there's a crazy influential designer laughing... and the joke's on all of us. Generally speaking, clogs are ugly and heavy and retro in all the wrong ways. I just can't stand the idea. But, I have recently discovered, a clog in the right hands can be a work of art. A really pricey work of art.

I recently ran across these Rick Owens Wedge Clogs. Argh. These shoes are like little sculptures for your feet. I feel like these shoes belong in a museum, on a shiny white pedestal with a spotlight trained on them. The slope of the heel combined with the slight rise in the toe give the illusion that these wedge clogs are in motion, even when standing still. The seamed front creates a look that vaguely reminds me of souvenir wooden clogs that you'd bring home from the Netherlands. And the leather... the unbroken expanse from the bottom of the wedge to the top of the shoe is striking. Ok, I give in. There is at least one pair of clogs I'd gladly wear. Rick Owens, you've got me beat.

3 Fun, Inexpensive Ways to Modernize Your Home

CB2 Party People Glass Markers
Party People Glass Markers

$6.95 for 12
Available at: cb2.com

Bring a modern twist to your home, and pick up a few items that will electrify your home and make it feel unique and up to date. Little details can make a big difference in a home and will surely get you geared to play hostess. Having the right glasses, plates and accessories can make your house the hot spot and if that’s something you’re trying to avoid, why not add a little twist for your own pleasure? Drinking from the right glasses can make a difference, trust me-- I get irritated when someone else drinks out of “my” coffee mug. Don’t get overwhelmed with changing up details in your home and leave it up to CB2, Crate & Barrel's sister website. CB2 may help solve some of your home décor problems because of its awesome selection at unbelievably fair prices.

Speaking of appropriate glassware, you can’t have a wine night without some glasses that fit the mood. I’m over the long stemmed wine glasses because they always break on me-- I love the look of stem-less hand-blown glasses. The 6-Piece Botella barware set from CB2 is complete with 4 glasses, a funnel and a decanter. The Set is only $23.25, how could you beat that for dishwasher-friendly glassware? Spiffy up the way you serve your wine and you will never look back; sit back, relax and savor every sip without worrying about clean up.

CB2 Verona Pasta Bowls
Verona Pasta Bowls

$4.95 - $14.95
Available at: cb2.com

If you like to have friends and family over and happen to be a germ phobic like me, you may want to purchase some Party People Glass Markers which come in a set of 12 for $6.95. The 12 assorted silicone characters mark individual glasses making it easier to determine which glass is yours. It’s a playful way of marking any type of glass, especially since the characters can be used on the inside or on outside of the glass. Let the characters take a dive and soak up the liquid while sucking up to the glass. This will prevent the horrid sharpie pen from ever making an appearance on a glass or cup again. Call me crazy, but the old school sharpie trick may have been an efficient way to remember which cup is yours in the college days, but neither creative nor classy these days.

Lastly, another fun excuse for my friends and I to get together (besides television shows and gossiping) is making mounds of pasta and expecting my friends to eat it... because if I’m going down, its only fair they go down with me. The Verona Pasta Bowls make it possible to work your way towards carb overload in a more honorable way. There are two different Verona pasta bowl sizes. One is small, to use for an individual salad bowl, dessert bowl, or a fruit bowl. The bigger bowl is also a curved pasta bowl that would fit a lot of pasta or perhaps a swanky shrimp appetizer. If that’s not interesting enough, maybe you should experiment with it as your centerpiece and see where that takes you. Either way these are practical bowls that are very versatile. Pasta or not, you’ll be taking these bowls with you every place you move, guaranteed.

New & Hot: Michael Kors Ceramic Watch

Michael Kors Watches Ceramic Watch
Michael Kors Ceramic Watch

$450.00
Available at: shopbop.com

I love the look of a luxe, oversized watch with any outfit-- from jeans, to dresses. I'm not much for wearing flashy jewelry on a daily basis, so a statement-making watch is just the final touch I feel like I need to pull an outfit together. Plus, in the age of the ever-present mobile phone, it feels kind of retro-cool to have a watch on your arm.

I've been lusting for a mens Cartier tank, but I keep blowing my fashion budget before I can save enough for the investment. So, a more moderately priced watch with a similarly luxurious feel is definitely in order. This new-for-spring Michael Kors Ceramic Watch is exactly what I've been looking for.

I really like that this watch has a classic, slightly oversized shape and an unobtrusive logo. But, what makes this watch different is the white ceramic construction, which is also waterproof (I wouldn't have expected that). It's fresh and bright and perfect for spring and summer. Love that.

Fashion Cents: Sail Into Spring

Wednesday, April 28, 2010 • Permalink •

--By Kimberly Turner

I live close to Lake Michigan and the boat owners are preparing their lovely ladies to sail the high seas (okay, low lakes) this season. Although I am not a boat owner, I love the nautical look with the exception of boat shoes. I actually hate boat shoes and can't figure out why they won't go away. I blame it on Charlie Sheen and his character on Two and A Half Men...but as usual I digress.

So here are a few tips for getting a nautical look (minus the boat shoes) that will work on land this spring and won't break the bank:

1. Search for blue & white treasures in your own closet
2. Chose embellishments that say "ahoy matey"
3. Don't go overboard
Now watch the video to see how it all comes together.

Happy sailing (into spring)!

Best Seller: Diane von Furstenberg Tie-Front Wrap Dress

Diane von Furstenberg Tie-Front Wrap Dress
Diane von Furstenberg Wrap Dress

$298.00
Available at: saks.com

There are few items of clothing as classic or timeless as a Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress. And, really, who doesn't need at least one more little black dress? So, it definitely makes sense that this simple, classic black wrap dress is currently a best seller at the Saks Fifth Avenue online store.

The Diane von Furstenberg Tie-Front Wrap Dress in black is crafted from rayon and features 3/4 length cuff sleeves and a classic self-tie at the waist. It's plenty demure enough to go straight to work, but it could turn into a night out dress with a loosening of the wrap and the addition of some dressy shoes and accessories. Plus, there's something very appealing about a dress that will never, ever go out of style. Now that's an investment worth making.

Best Seller: Madewell Cotton Garcon Blazer

Madewell Cotton Garcon Blazer
Madewell Cotton Garcon Blazer

$135.00
Available at: shopbop.com

A perfect spring blazer is as useful as it is hard to find. A spring blazer must be a little more lightweight and a little less severe than its fall or winter counterpart, but just as polished and versatile. It's a tall order. Which explains why this chic cotton blazer is currently a best seller at online fashion superstore ShopBop.com.

The Madewell Cotton Garcon Blazer, available in Black Sea (shown) and White, is an ideal spring blazer. It's constructed from cotton with just a touch of spandex for stretch. The slightly slouchy boyfriend-like fit takes the edge off of what could be a very uptight design, while the notched collar and single-button closure keep the overall silhouette classic. This is a blazer that you'll wear all spring and summer long, with everything from workday basics to sundresses and skinny jeans.

Rachel Rachel Roy Side Gathered Dress
Rachel Rachel Roy Side Gathered Dress

$119.00
Available at: rachelroy.com

At first glance, this dress is all wrong. It's bright. It's strangely off-center. The graphic design is loud. But, take a closer look and I think you'll see why I'm head over heels for this Rachel Rachel Roy Side Gathered Dress currently available for preorder at the Rachel Roy online store.

The high neckline and side gather are funky, but very high-fashion. This silhouette looks straight off a runway. Plus, unlike many "runway" inspired looks, the hemline of this dress actually hits the knee-- great for those of us who no longer have 20-something legs. The exposed-zipper back is a little rocker-chic, and will pair nicely with a pair of chunky gladiator-style high heel sandals. And the best part? All this style comes with a really low pricetag: $119.00!

New & Hot: Graham & Spencer Linen Jumpsuit

Graham & Spencer Strapless Linen Jumpsuit
Graham & Spencer Linen Jumpsuit

$295.00
Available at: bloomingdales.com

Although it has been pouring rain lately here in the San Francisco area, I still have summer on the brain. The super hot, super sticky days of summer will be here soon and I want to be ready with clothing that is light and airy, but still fashionable. Linen is always a favorite, both because of the lightness and because the already wrinkled look never appears to suffer from weather complications or packing disasters. But, fresh takes on linen are rare. That's exactly why I'm loving this new find from Graham & Spencer.

The new Graham & Spencer Strapless Linen Jumpsuit is going to be ideal for those summer days when you can't bear to sacrifice style for comfort. It's nearly head-to-toe linen, but done in a way that's a far cry from your standard linen button-down or a-line skirt. I love this jumpsuit with fancy sandals, as shown here. The overall look is relaxed, but still fashion-forward. I can also picture this jumpsuit with a slim blazer for a lunch with the girls look. Perfect.

New & Hot: Studded Converse Sneakers by What Goes Around Comes Around

Wednesday, April 21, 2010 • Permalink •

Ok, I hate sneakers. I own exactly one pair of non-workout sneakers and I use them exclusively for driving long distances. There is nothing about sneakers that fits with my fashion sense. They have no place in my wardrobe. At least until now.

I'm in love with these brand new Studded Converse Sneakers from What Goes Around Comes Around. They have attitude. They are fashion-forward. The studded detail is funky, not cheesy. I'm already picturing them with my favorite skinny jeans for a weekend trek around the city. Or with slouchy denim shorts for a beach vacation appropriate look that doesn't scream "beach babe." These customized Converse All-Stars are perfect for the sneaker-adverse fashionista. Love them.

Best Seller: Winter Kate Jasmine Cardigan

Winter Kate Jasmine Cardigan
Winter Kate Jasmine Cardigan

$295.00
Available at: nordstrom.com

Nicole Richie's new Winter Kate fashion line, and expanded House of Harlow accessories line, are the hottest things in the stores right now. Everywhere you look, there's a Nicole Richie design on the best seller list... and Nordstrom is no different.

The brand new Winter Kate Jasmine Cardigan is a current best seller from the Savvy Department at Nordstrom.com. This knee-length silk cardigan features an all-over sketched feather print. The flowy, closure-free cardigan almost screams Nicole Richie to me. I love how all of her designs feel like something she'd actually wear-- from the actual styles to the quality.

In fact, Nicole's often photographed wearing her own designs. I respect that she's not trying to pass of super cheaply constructed items as something that she'd wear-- that really annoys me about some celeb lines. Instead, the new Winter Kate fashions feel authentic and true to Nicole's personal style. Perhaps that's why the newest designs are all selling out as fast as they are released.

The Winter Kate Jasmine Cardigan is currently available in sizes Small, Medium and Large at Nordstrom.com. Size X-Small is already sold out. Click on the photo to link directly to where you can purchase the best-selling Winter Kate Jasmine Cardigan online.

Summer Fashion: Sweet and Sexy Swimsuits

Thursday, April 15, 2010 • Permalink •

--By Kim Moshtaghi

Juicy Couture Demi Swim Top and Bottoms
Juicy Couture Demi Top & Bottom

$85.00 - $98.00
Available at: bloomingdales.com

Swimsuits are a big part of summer and they're the first thing that comes to my mind when I think of the sun. It may sound scary to think that you can take advantage of this season and express yourself when soaking up the sun, but it can be done without all the stress if you shop wisely.

Reveal your personal style in a bathing suit and be open to buying one online. I have found it’s the best way to shop for swimsuits because it avoids any self loathing that otherwise happens after you try on the second one. Embrace your body for all it's worth and tap into your confidence when wearing your swimsuit. Knowing your body is important, and coming to terms with it will make you look and feel your best. As always, when you feel great you exude an attractive aura that can’t help but be noticed.

My first ever-so-charming swimsuit feature is suitable for a smaller chest and curves that would make a coca-cola bottle jealous. The Juicy Couture ruffle red two-piece is hot! I love the top part because it has a ruched bust. The ruched bust is adorable and feminine, but not quite enough to cover and support a big-breasted gal who may want to opt for more coverage. Although this top doesn’t leave much to the imagination, the bottom does the opposite by covering the booty with sass and style with a skirt-like ruffle bottom. Catch some rays in this bikini and never worry about awkward tan lines around your neck.

Venus Sun Goddess Swimsuit
Venus Sun Goddess Swimsuit

$75.00
Available at: venus.com

I can speak for larger breasted girls and say I need to have my girls lifted to an upright position in order to feel comfortable laying around in almost nothing. So, I prefer halter bikinis with a wire or a thicker band underneath. I’m head over heels for this simple white (also comes in black) Banded Halter Bikini from Venus. This elegant, flattering diva suit has nice black embellishments that compliment the thick bands on both the top and bottom of the suit and add glamour without going over the top. In addition to those lovely perks, this swimsuit is versatile enough to mix 'n' match.

Looking for a one-piece? Then check out this sophisticated one from Venus called the “Sun Goddess.” I mean, it’s just that: a bathing suit a sun goddess would wear to keep it classy and jaw-dropping at the same time. I love the elegant silhouette with the enhancer triangle cups, which add sexy shape and support to the front. The back takes over by being soft, but super daring with a crisscross tie for the ultimate in stunning. Something about this one-piece is extraordinarily charming and it makes me want to order it pronto. They definitely didn’t get stuck when designing this suit. The way the breasts are accented and the way the back is wrapped up shows how spicy this combination is, creating an exquisite spicy style that fits well in the whole equation. Bottom line, it’s sexy-- I’m in.

Depending on your dexterity and general fearlessness, white jeans are either the epitome of summer dressing or the bane of your existence. Personally, I'm teetering. I love the look of white jeans... as long as I don't have to sit down, or eat, or maneuver through crowds.

But, I must be in the minority, because the best selling womens jeans at the 7 For All Mankind online store right now are a pair of straight leg white jeans. No joke. The best selling pair of 7 For All Mankind jeans are white straight legs. Brave fashionistas everywhere must be seriously craving spring, because there are a lot of other Sevens to choose from in much more forgiving colors.

The 7 For All Mankind Straight Leg in White is made from a standard cotton/ polyurethane blend and features the iconic Seven squiggle on the back pocket in a white-on-white color scheme, along with a pale grey logo tag. This jean is available in sizes 24 to 32, and all sizes are currently in stock.

Fashion Cents: It’s time to color...

Wednesday, April 14, 2010 • Permalink •

--By Kimberly Turner

...and I am not talking about using that Crayola box of 64 crayons and your favorite coloring book that you have stashed in your desk. Instead, I want you to use the season’s basics to color in your wardrobe this spring.

I often get clients who tell me that they can’t wear color; either because it doesn’t look good on them or they don’t know how to mix and match. Well, everyone can wear color AND mixing and matching should be as easy as Garanimals (you used to wear them too). So of course, I have three easy rules for coloring your wardrobe this spring:

1. Don’t use one crayon
2. Know the color wheel
3. If it doesn’t look good around your face, wear it below your waist
Watch the video now to learn how to color within the lines and see what you can color (which is basically everything).

Now, start coloring and have fun!

Review: Vichy Aqualia Antiox Skincare

Tuesday, April 13, 2010 • Permalink •

Vichy Aqualia Antiox Face Serum
Vichy Aqualia Antiox Serum

$45.00
Available at: vichyusa.com

I may be a adventurous with my makeup brands, but when it comes to skincare, I'm pretty faithful. I've been using the same face wash (Fresh Soy Face Cleanser), daytime moisturizer (Clinique Super Defense), and night cream (Kinerase Ultimate Night Moisturizer) for years. They work for me. I've never seen the need to replace one of them. But, what about adding something that would make my regular routine even better?

I recently got the chance to try out two new products from the Vichy Aqualia Antiox line: the Deoxidising Fresh Treatment serum and the Ice-Effect Eye Stick. Both of these products could be used in addition to my already well-loved regimen, so I was game.

Vichy Aqualia Antiox Fresh Treatment is a concentrated vitamin C and citrus polyphenol serum that is meant to be worn under your normal moisturizer or treatment in order to create an antioxidant layer that protects and renews the skin. The first thing that struck me as kind of unique is that you mix the serum yourself before you first use it, and you keep the mixed serum in the refrigerator during the course of the 21-day treatment. This mixing and refrigeration is necessary because the final product doesn't contain any preservatives.

Vichy Aqualia Antiox Eye Stick
Vichy Aqualia Antiox Eye Stick

$28.00
Available at: vichyusa.com

When I first used the serum, it stung a little bit, but didn't create any redness at all. I used it during the day under my Clinique mositurizer and, after a week, I did feel like my skin was a little brighter and more glowing. I don't feel like there was any wrinkle reduction, but I'm sure I didn't use it nearly long enough to determine the longer term effects. I'll definitely try another 21-day treatment because I feel like I saw $45 worth of improvement to my skin texture and brightness.

Vichy Aqualia Antiox Ice-Effect Stick for eyes is designed to refresh the undereye area by reducing undereye bags and fading dark circles. The stick, which looks kind of like a mini deodorant stick, contains the same citrus polyphenols and vitamin c as the rest of the Aqualia Antiox line. The stick also seems to have some sort of menthol or other cool-effect ingredient because it does actually feel cold when you apply it. My eyes did feel refreshed after using the stick, but I didn't feel that it created any lasting effects. So, while I'll keep the eye stick in my bag for travel (it will be ideal for after flights!), I won't be trading in my hydrating eye cream any time soon.

So, how much do you love it when you wear your brand new shoes for the first time-- you know, the ones that cost as much as your rent-- and then promptly step in a sidewalk crack and gouge the heel? Fun, right? Thankfully, things don't have to be that way.

The Best Bright Lip Colors for Summer

L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipcolour, Drumbeat Red
L'Oreal Colour Riche Drumbeat Red

$8.95
Available at: drugstore.com

In the summer, I think it’s a good idea to keep the eye makeup simple and go bold with the lips. I mean, look at Gwen Stefani-- she wears red lipstick while running. Plus, the sun just makes your eyes water and eye makeup ends up getting creased and tragic looking by the end of the day anyway. A layer of mascara along with a bright, bold lipstick freshens up the face by creating a more alert you-- it is an unbeatable look. It’s warm outside, why waste time putting eyeliner on when you could be enjoying the gorgeous day? I’m going to showcase my top three lipstick choices in case you want to catch some rays with a seductive pout.

L’Oreal Colour Riche Drumbeat Red lip color is a beautiful true red. It is deep red and will get your lips to pucker up fast and give off the Marilyn Monroe vibe instantly. Sexual and downright sassy best describe this shade. The best part is that you can actually rely on getting moist soft lips when applying this line from L’Oreal. The line is designed to soften the puckers and make them look beyond kissable. How could anyone resist?

Yves Saint Laurent Gloss Volupte
Yves Saint Laurent Gloss Volupte

$30.00
Available at: yslbeautyus.com

Yves Saint Laurent makes sky-high killer shoes and they definitely make some long lasting gloss. A brand that really grasps what women want presents Gloss Volupte, a sheer sensual gloss stick that may make it to your list of favorite lip glosses. This gloss is non-sticky and yummy tasting with a small hint of mint. Hey, if you’re making them kissable why not make your lips smell good while you are at it? If you are looking for a high powered tube then I suggest you grab a tube of Gloss Volupte.

Now, if high priced lipstick isn’t your thing, try one of my new favorite lipsticks from Wet ‘n’ Wild. The Silk Finish Lipstick is unreal for $1.29. I mean seriously how could you say no to this? The Fuchsia with Blue Pearl is such a fun color; it makes me want to wear a polka-dot outfit. Something about this color is magic and brings out the girly, happy me. I guess what really makes me smile is the fact that I can actually get an excellent lipstick for that price. So, if this doesn’t make you happy then not much will.

House of Harlow Sunburst Button Earrings with Black Leather in Gold
House of Harlow Sunburst Earrings

$30.00
Available at: revolveclothing.com

It seems like every other celebrity on the block is now attempting to carry a fashion line. From award-winning artists to D-list reality stars, the whole spectrum of celebrity is now somehow involved in clothing or accessory lines. But, how many of these celeb-backed lines are truly successful with the fashionista crowd? Very, very few.

Two very clear exceptions are the two new lines from Nicole Richie-- House of Harlow and Winter Kate. Both lines have been selling out at major fashionista-approved online shopping haunts, despite their serious price tags. Seems like everyone wants a little piece of the Nicole Richie fashion empire. So, it doesn't surprise me one bit that the top of the Best Seller list at trendy online fashion boutique Revolve Clothing is currently occupied by a very affordable House of Harlow find: House of Harlow Sunburst Button Earrings.

These simple, yet distinctively House of Harlow, earrings feature black leather surrounded by goldtone metal detail. At only $30, they are a great way to take part in the House of Harlow madness without investing a fortune.

Jessica Alba wearing Charley 5.0 Leaving on a Jet Plane denim parka
Charley 5.0 Jet Plane Parka

$247.00
Available at: boutiquetoyou.com

Yesterday I mentioned the need for a casual spring jacket to tide us all over while mother nature makes up her mind about whether the weather will be warm or chilly. A lightweight, yet fashionable jacket will see you through the early spring, be useful for breezy summer nights and add a splash of trendiness to otherwise simple outfits. This latest celebrity fashion find is yet another example of a jacket that works perfectly for this purpose.

On April 1 Jessica Alba was snapped while making a coffee run wearing a super laid-back, yet fashionable ensemble. Her jacket was definitely the stand-out piece. So, which jacket was Miss Jessica sporting? The new Charley 5.0 Leaving on a Jet Plane Parka. Don't you just love the name? This denim parka would be perfect for travel, just like the name suggests, but it's also great for kicking around town and adding a dose of spring's denim trend to your wardrobe. This lightweight jacket features an adjustable drawstring waist and roll-able sleeves, so you can really customize for the fit and look that fits your mood.

Best Seller: Tory Burch Brigitte Chambray Dress

Tory Burch Brigitte Chambray Dress
Tory Burch Brigitte Dress

$275.00
Available at: nordstrom.com

It's all about unique takes on denim for spring, from denim accessories to utilizing lightweight denim fabrics for fashions other than jeans. Are you stocked up on unconventional denim? If your wardrobe is still lacking in the spring denim department, check out this best seller from the Nordstrom Via C department.

The Tory Burch Brigitte Chambray Dress bridges the gap between trendy and versatile, so it's no wonder its a best seller. The chambray fabric, shirt dress shape, and vaguely military styling (epaulets, goldtone buttons, roll-tab sleeves) all make this dress super on-point for spring. But, the subtlety of the detailing and moderate hem line add to the versatility. I love the look of this dress with slim white pants, as pictured here. But, bare legs and flat sandals would make this Tory Burch dress more than worthy of a weekend away.

Katie Holmes wearing Juicy Couture Hooded Military Coat
Juicy Couture Tony Military Coat

$298.00
Available at: juicycouture.com

Spring may have sprung, but it's far from warm weather... at least here in northern California. After weathering a freakish spring storm over the Easter weekend, we're now enjoying chilly, yet sunny weather. So much for sporting all of those spare spring fashions we've all been pulling out of storage. The solution? An on-trend spring coat with just enough coverage and heft to keep us warm while mother nature decides if it really is springtime. This new celebrity fashion find is right on point.

Katie Holmes was recently spotted wearing a super casual look topped by a slouchy military-style coat. The coat in question? The brand new Juicy Couture Tony Hooded Military Coat. This cotton / spandex blend coat features a convertible collar and double-breasted closure. It's just right for the first weeks of spring or a summer night at the beach, and it fits in perfectly with spring's utilitarian fashion trend. This coat does casual very well, as Katie shows us in this picture, but I'd also try it over one of spring's super girly floral print dresses for a very fashion-forward look.

Best Seller: D&G Bustier Sheath Dress

D&G Dolce & Gabbana Bustier Sheath Dress
D&G Bustier Sheath Dress

$475.00
Available at: saks.com

Every season there are certain trends that become crazy popular. Suddenly, in the know fashionistas everywhere have a version of the trend in their closets-- a version that fits each fashionista's individual style and budget. The variety makes the trend all the more interesting. But, there are a few specific garments that stand out as instantly recognizable wardrobe must-haves. A different "version" of these classics reeks of knock-off, not well-planned variation.

In the dresses category, there's the DvF wrap dress, the Herve Leger bandage dress... and this bust-boosting, waist-cinching wonder. The D&G Dolce & Gabbana Bustier Sheath Dress has become one of those fashion all-stars that just won't go away. Madonna has been wearing versions of this same dress for decades, and it never gets old. Now that's saying something. With a fashion pedigree like that, is it any wonder that this simple, sultry dress currently tops the Best Sellers list for the Contemporary Collection at Saks.com?

The D&G Bustier Sheath Dress is shaped from slightly stretchy cotton and features asymmetrical seam details to complement the classic bustier silhouette. The straps are adjustable for creating the perfect fit and it's available in either Black or White, both priced at $475. Personally, I think that's incredibly reasonable for a dress that is practically guaranteed to never go out of style.

How To: Shop at H&M

Thursday, April 01, 2010 • Permalink •

Shopping at bargain stores and "fast fashion" chains can be a great way to score hot trends at super low prices that keep you from feeling guilty when that fun find only lasts one season. But, bargain stores can be overwhelming and start to feel like more trouble than they're worth. If you feel the same way, you're going to love this video from our friends at LuckyMag.com.

In this new video, Lucky Editor at Large Elise Loehnen shares tips for how to shop at H&M, that fast fashion chain we all have a love / hate relationship with. We love the affordable trends, but we hate the crowds, mess, and general crazy. These tips and strategies will help you avoid all three, and make the most of your (repeated) H&M visits...

Spring Fashion: The Blue Swirl of Love

Marc Bouwer Glamit Two Tone Chiffon Halter Dress
Marc Bouwer Chiffon Halter Dress

$395.00
Available at: neimanmarcus.com

Two-toned blue swirls give off such a great vibe. I’m seeing a lot of blue combinations that look gorgeous and are a hot trend to start embracing. For this season, be ready to show off all you’ve got with the light evoking color blue. The blue swirl trend, which I call the swirl of love, is a perfect way to get into the summer mode.

Although every summer demands bright and bold colors, the blue combos I'm seeing for 2010 are phenomenal. Happy color equals happy divas across the globe. With a blue swirl experience, I chose blue hued dresses that will fool people into thinking you belong on Dancing with the Stars. Get your architectural shoes on and flaunt this hot color combo.

This first dress wouldn't just be worn by Cinderella, it would be her favorite. The Marc Bouwer Two-Tone Chiffon Halter Dress is stunning and reminds me of an ocean breeze. The chiffon is so charming that anyone wearing it will have the power of a princess. The top of the dress has a keyhole opening, but remains classy and feminine. Wearing this dress will give a womanly presence with a girly carefree attitude.

Marciano Ariane Maxi Dress
Marciano Ariane Maxi Dress

$168.00
Available at: marciano.com

My next dress pick screams sophistication. Although it is a bit fun loving, it is elegant at the same time. The cocktail dress by Mignon is very appealing for a mid afternoon or night time event-- it’s glitzy and downright fabulous! The bead and stone cinched waist make it all the more unique and different from square neckline tube dresses. The cut of the dress is impressive, especially with the neckline in combination with a pleated mini skirt that has side pockets. This dress is a walking dream with the heavenly blue color combination.

Lastly, the summer wouldn’t be the same without a maxi dress. Just imagine walking along the ocean on a hot summer day and enjoying the breeze with Marciano’s Ariane maxi dress. This long silhouette with the tie dye effect at the hem and a knot at the bust is super sassy. Be sure to keep your hair in sleek pony tail to flaunt of the beaded macramé on the back. This dress is the most casual and laid back out of the three dresses featured-- you can wear it while lying in a hammock without feeling discomfort.

Next time you can’t decide between blue and pink, go for a blue color combination that will lift your spirits and awaken your inner diva.
