Very different from the first pair, the Nine West “Medalion” sandals are an explosion of life with all sorts of colors and colorful embellishments on top of the t-strap. The “Cool It” is decorated with gold and silver bangles which wrap around the straps to give it more personality, otherwise they would be too plain Jane. I love the simplicity-- this is a pair you can wear to the beach without trashing them because of the durable material, and the fact that it is easy to slide on makes it more appealing than others.

Fashion Cents: What to Wear to a Picnic

At picnics, I somehow always end up close to the grill and thus grill marks or that bite into my turkey burger leaves barbecue sauce running down my shirt. So I want to answer, "What to wear to a picnic?" with cool and classy but if you are like me, MESSY, you might want to go with a look that keeps you barbecue free. So here are three tips that will help you feel stylish and yet keep you clean:

1. Layer it -- make a mistake on one layer, you have a clean layer underneath.
2. Wedge it -- stilettos in the dirt can leave you flat on your face, try a wedge if you need some height but balanced footing.
3. Cross it -- that's your bag over your shoulder. How else will you balance your burger, drink and purse?

As of last week, the big news was that this newest Target designer collaboration would be available initially only at the brand new East Harlem Target store. But, Monday morning rumors were flying that, if you looked hard enough (which wasn't that hard at all) you'd find the entire line for sale online. And, wouldn't you know, the rumors were right. But, I'm sure that my fellow online shopping-fanatic fashionistas are spreading the word far and wide as I write this. The moral of this story: take advantage of this development and snap up your Dolce Vita for Target shoes and boots ASAP!

My absolute #1 pick of the Dolce Vita for Target line is the Buckle Ankle Boots pictured here at top left. They are so funky and fun and, honestly, they are a style that I probably wouldn't ever spend real money to purchase. Three cheers for Dolce Vita for Target! At just $34.99, I'll brave the fact that I haven't seen them in person.

In second place, the Dolce Vita for Target Lace-Up Boots. The top to bottom zipper detail is the best part. These boots remind me a bit of the alterna-punk mid-'90s, but the addition of the zipper adds a more modern touch. These boots will be perfect for those rainy, mucky fall days in San Francisco when I don't want to wear expensive shoes, but I don't want to look like I've given up on style either.

Review: DuWop Revolution Body Bronzer

Sometimes a girl just needs a little tan. Fake tan, that is. But she doesn't have the time to wait for a self-tanner to develop, or want the smell that lingers after application. This is where body bronzers are supposed to come in, to fill that need for instant color without scent or commitment.

If the idea of applying what is essentially makeup to your limbs sounds messy and difficult, you're not alone. I've been a skeptic too. But recently, after deciding to wear a dress to an event, but not having time or inclination to do a self tanner application, I turned to a body bronzer. Digging deep into the recesses of my sample drawer, I pulled out a tube of DuWop Revolution Body Bronzer and went to work.

DuWop Revolution Body Bronzer is a bronzing body moisturizer plus SPF 15. It comes in two shades -- Medium an Deep -- and claims to be streak free, slightly shimmery and transfer resistant. I'm happy to report that this product pretty much delivers on its claims. My review:

Packaging and Instructions

The basic tube and twist-off cap is exactly what I'd expect from this kind of product and very easy to use. The instructions were a bit sparse in my opinion -- apply evenly, wait 30 minutes before sun exposure and wait until dry before dressing. Um, thanks. I think I could have figured out that much on my own. I'd add that applying in a circular motion is advisable as this product is prone to streaking a bit, particularly on pale skin. The product does dry quickly, which allows for adding a second coat to build the color, a great feature that isn't mentioned on the packaging.

Texture and Feel

DuWop Revolution Body Bronzer initially has the texture of a light moisturizer, but the fact that it is designed to dry to a transfer resistant product means that it gets tacky quickly as you start to rub it in. This is a good thing in the long run, but you definitely need to work quickly. The dry product is comfortable and doesn't feel at all like you have makeup on your skin.

Results

After two coats of DuWop Revolution in Medium, with about 5 minute dry time in between coats, my legs were transformed from pasty white and blotchy to lightly tanned and even toned with day-appropriate shimmer. I was definitely not "tanned," but that's not really what I wanted. I did get a nice even skin tone, a lot like the effect you get from wearing super sheer stockings. I loved the look and will definitely use DuWop Revolution Body Bronzer in the future.

It's no secret that I'm a sucker for a truly unique shoe, and these new Senso Wilma III Boots in black pony hair are my newest fixation.

Senso is an Australian shoe label known for producing cutting-edge looks. The Senso label is incredibly affordable for the high-style designs they produce, but the label is a bit difficult to find here in the States. The only US-based retailer is online shoe shop SoleStruck.com.

The Senso Wilma III Boot is available in three versions-- Black Calf leather, Cheetah print and the Black Pony pictured here. While the calf and cheetah print versions are perfectly nice, the Black Pony version is amazing. I love this boot paired with skinny jeans or even a pair of leather leggings for fall. Overall, this shoe vibes much more expensive than it really is. I can almost picture this boot on the foot of an Olsen or an off-duty runway model-- it definitely has that kind of uber-fashionista quality. This is one of those shoes that will make the outfit.

When it comes to mid-priced handbags, I'm kind of a creature of habit. I find a label to love and stick with it. Consequently, my everyday handbag wardrobe consists mainly of Rebecca Minkoff, Botkier, Foley & Corinna and Marc by Marc Jacobs. These go-to labels never disappoint in the handbag department, so I'm loyal. But, I recently stumbled upon a local Bay Area handbag label that has me so smitten that I added one of their fabulous bags into rotation.

San Francisco-based accessories label Bryna Nicole was founded in 2006 by Bryna Nicole McMills, a former stylist and consultant. This label on the rise is currently stocked in 36 bricks-and-mortar stores (including a recent expansion into select Nordstrom locations) and 10 online stores, plus their own online store. From what I can tell, Bryna Nicole appears to be rapidly expanding. They even got a little screen time in Gossip Girl on the arm of Blake Lively as Serena. I'm psyched that I caught on to Bryna Nicole while it's still kind of a hidden gem -- I love making new discoveries!

The Bryna Nicole Spring 2010 line is a well-edited mix of playful (fringe, studs) and polished (sleek clutches, semi-structured day bags) handbag options, plus some creative takes on the leather bracelet genre made popular by Vita Fede. I just snagged a prior season's boho-chic cross-body bag in buttery soft pebble-colored leather. It's one of those handbags that you just want to cuddle with because it's so cozy and perfect. The interior is roomy, but not cavernous, and the combination of internal and external pockets are smart and functional, rather than merely decorative. You can tell that a practical city girl dreamed up this bag. I'm really enjoying it and I can't wait to see what the Bryna Nicole label offers in the future.

My favorite color is yellow and it happens to be the color of sunshine and cheerfulness. Although it is a bright, eye-catching color, it looks lovely on sun kissed skin and surprisingly complements a lot of different colors from the color wheel. Yellow goes beautifully with blues and grays and looks stunning with red. I remember a couple years ago when Reese Witherspoon wore a short yet sophisticated yellow Nina Ricci dress with red shoes and a red purse. It’s such a fun color, but can be so classic when worn with the right accessories and if the cut of the dress is conservative. When summer comes around it’s hard to avoid buying a fun flirty yellow dress to enjoy the sunset in, or create the sun with its happy mood-setting power.

Unexpected Animal Prints for Summer

Lately I have been in an animal instinct mode. I love wearing a hint of animal print to brighten up the gloomy days in San Diego. Although June has passed, the June gloom still lingers and the fun side of me wants to implement animal prints back into my wardrobe. I have always adored animal print in moderation year round. Nothing else is more noticeable and sexy, whether it's a zebra scarf around the neck or a leopard print trimmed jacket, because it livens up any look. To change it up a bit I chose some pieces that I tend to overlook when buying animal print and that I think deserve a fair try.

I found an adorable wrist bling accessory that fit my description. I’m definitely diggin’ the Sweet Cheetah Bangle Set for a diva-like chicarita who can’t be seen without at least a little bit of attitude. This bangle set does the deed. If bangles are not your thing, or you just need something a little bit more useful, try carrying around a sturdy bag from Marc by Marc Jacobs. This very versatile black and white Marc by Marc Jacobs Printed Hiller Hobo Bag will go with anything and everything with its coloring and classic style. The bag is great for travel or a day at work. It’s big enough to carry more than the necessary essentials, but not so large that it looks like your bag could carry your closet-- gosh, I hate that unless you are traveling with it. The single top handle and its hobo style is a polished put-together look that is appropriate for all outings. It’s not too loud, but it sends the message that you admire a little fun in your everyday life. Easy access with its magnetic closure means you’ll never have a zipper jam again, but just make sure it doesn’t fall upside down.

Lastly, plunging to the feet. I can’t keep silent about my love for Jessica Simpson’s ‘Lepolia’ ballerina flats. I think they're absolutely beyond adorable and could fancy up any outfit and create such a fun finish. The extra clusters of jewels backed with a grosgrain ribbon add more flavor than a spice rack. What really attracts me to this ballerina flat is that they're comfortable and can easily be taken anywhere without having to worry about future back problems. Kudos Jessica-- it’s exciting to see you pull through!

Here's the thing about cowl neck tops, they can vibe a little dowdy. I've found very few that don't remind me of a schoolteacher from the '70s. But, I just stumbled upon this brand new cowl neck top that's actually quite chic.

I never get tired of the designer collaborations that keep popping up. Each time I run across a new one I'm not necessarily surprised, but I am intrigued.

For this season, ballet shoe maker extraordinaire Repetto, the company that first put street-appropriate soles on ballet shoes for Audrey Hepburn to sport, has teamed up with James Perse. The result is three pair of simple, elegant Repetto for James Perse ballet slippers each made by hand in France. The outer material is chic canvas, which fits in perfectly with the laid back James Perse lifestyle and was designed to complement this season's James Perse styles. The insole and outsole are both leather, with canvas inner lining. The Flax color pictured here is my favorite, but they are also available in Ink (a denim-like canvas) and Black.

Review: Lancer RX Dermatology Skincare

Normally, my combination skin ranges from dry to oily, with no rhyme or reason. Every morning is like flipping a coin – you just never really know what my skin will look like when I wake up. Recently I had the chance to try out the Lancer RX Dermatology skincare line, otherwise known as "The Lancer Method." Specifically, I used the Lancer RX Dermatology Cleanse Extremely Pure, Repair Am/Pm Nourishment, and Polish.

The directions for the Cleanse and Repair are to use both in the morning and at night, while the Polish is to be applied every other day or so. The three product combination was more than my usual routine of nightly face wash and daily anti-wrinkle/sunscreen/moisturizing cream (yes, all three in one – I’m an efficient girl who hates mornings, so time saved = time to sleep longer). So dedicating myself to this triage for a week was quite a commitment for me.

I used the Lancer RX Cleanse and Repair in the morning and at night, as recommended, until evening 3. When my boyfriend leaned in for a kiss goodnight and told me that my face smelled like his grandma, I decided that I would skip the Repair on nights that romance was anticipated.

My skin, however, was noticeably softer and cleaner by day 2. By day 3, my pores looked smaller. One downside was that my skin was definitely shinier, which makes me uncomfortable in that I tend to associate shiny with oily. Overall, I was impressed with the effects of the products and would recommend the triage for anyone not afraid of a time commitment in the morning and evening.

Honored enough to review an edgy hip pair of shoes by Nicole, I got inspired to wear out more denim and rocked this fun loving pair with some serious confidence. I was diggin’ wearing the Nicole “Persuasive” Dark Brown Boots.

I've been using the Estée Lauder eye treatment for about a week now, and so far I'm pleased. Although I know I haven't been using it long enough to see the full effect, I have made some initial observations.

Packaging and Instructions

The Advanced Night Repair Eye is packaged in a small jar with a fairly narrow opening and a screw-off lid. I'd be happier with a pump bottle, but I've definitely seen worse as far as eye treatment packaging is concerned. The jar does come with a reusable spatula for dipping the formula out of the jar and applying to the eye area, which is helpful and makes me confident that I'll be able to use all of the product. There's nothing worse that realizing that the last 20% of your favorite product is stranded at the bottom of the packaging due to poor design.

The instructions were clear and available in a number of languages. One surprise was that, although it is called "night repair," the instructions actually call for using the treatment in both the a.m. and p.m. So, I have been using the Advanced Night Repair Eye both at night, in conjunction with my overall night cream, and during the day under my makeup.

Texture and Feel

The formula is a very lightweight gel-like consistency. Initially, I was a little turned off by the fact that it wasn't as heavy as my normal eye cream, but after a couple days I actually started to like the consistency. The lightweight gel sinks in right away, so there's no stickiness on my pillow at night, and it wears very well under my daytime makeup routine. I'm even able to wear it under eye primer without affecting the performance of the eye primer.

Results

As I mentioned, I haven't been using the Advanced Night Repair Eye long enough to weigh in on the long-term effects. But, so far, I've found it pleasant to use and moisturizing. There is no dryness in my eye area and no puffiness. I'll continue to use this product to see how it performs over a longer time period.

Fashion Cents: What to Wear to a Summer Concert

Summertime! My favorite time of the year. Cookouts, festivals and concerts. I know the music scene happens all year but it seems like there is so much more to do in when it's hot. But of course, keep in mind, I live in Chicago so in the wintertime, we rarely want to come out of the house. So this year the artists are as varied as Bon Jovi to BBD and so are the venues from outdoor stadiums to indoor intimate venues. So what to wear so you look hot and cool? Three things you should know:

1. The venue where you are going. Dressing for the venue is key.

2. If you have assigned seating or if it is standing room only. Makes a difference in what you would wear.

3. How far you have to walk. Stomping a mile to a concert in five inch heels will make for a horrible night.
