After yesterday's exploration of the work dress, I've had work shoes on my mind. While I'm lucky enough to now work in a creative environment that embraces my love of high-fashion 5" heels, I very clearly remember the days of sensible shoes. It's hard to find a pair of shoes that are fashionable and comfortable, yet dressy enough for a suit or other more formal office-wear. This affordable find from Calvin Klein is just that.

The Calvin Klein Yana Wedge Heel is made from black kidskin leather with a moderate 2.5" heel and spacious almond-shaped toe. Ahh, the work dress... I know you all too well. After years of practicing law, I got all too familiar with office appropriate dressing. Fashion Cents: Tips for Buying a Maxi Skirt or Dress

Maxi skirts and dresses are staples for the summer. To tell you how to wear it seems like a waste of time. Nor will I try to convince you that you can wear it any time (except for work). But I do have a couple of points that are worth sharing especially if you are shopping for new maxi options:

1. Don't tie it up. If it is too long and you don't want to rock it with 6 inch heels, you can still buy it just have it cut off by your tailor or cleaners. Tying up the ends just look tacky so if that is your only option, leave it on the rack.
2. Don't buy an unflattering fabric. Just because the fitted cotton/lycra maxis are being seen on all the celebs, opt for a fabric that is flattering on you.
3. Do make sure it offers you versatility. It's cool to be able to wear the same skirt/dress 3 different ways. It makes "cents" to be able to get lots of wear from your wardrobe.

My new favorite – the Bacardi Hand-Shaken Daiquiri. All you need is Bacardi Hand-Shaken Daiquiri, ice, and limes – how simple is that?!?! To impress your guests, follow these steps:

Step 1: Moisten the rim of a tall glass then dip in sugar to rim the edges
Step 2: Pour Bacardi Hand-Shaken Daiquiri over ice
Step 3: Garnish with a lime wedge
Step 4: Cheers!

Of course, no get-together is complete without some tasty appetizers to go with your cocktails. Here are few for you to try that pair well with the Bacardi Hand-Shaken Daiquiri, ranging in prep-time and difficulty. 1. For the classy and adventurous: The Taco Fiesta

• 1 pound lean ground beef or turkey
• 1 packet of taco seasoning
  
• 12 taco shells
• 3/4 cup shredded reduced-fat Cheddar cheese
• 3/4 cup shredded pepper-jack cheese
• Salsa
• Chopped tomatoes
• Lettuce
• Sour cream

Cook turkey in skillet until there is no pink (about 5 minutes), breaking up large piece. Add taco seasoning and water (as listed on the packet). Heat until hot. Heat taco shells in toaster until hot. Fill shells with turkey meat and top with remaining ingredients or let your guests enjoy a build-your-own taco bar!

2. For the committed, but not too committed: Spicy Bean Dip

• 2 cans bean dip
• 8 oz. sour cream
• 1 small chopped jalapeño (remove the seeds; add half for less spice)
• 1 packet of taco seasoning mix
• 1 cup chopped green onions
• 1 chopped tomato
• 8 oz. shredded cheddar cheese
• 8 oz. shredded pepper-jack cheese

Layer the bean dip in the bottom of the serving dish. Mix the sour cream, jalapeno, and taco seasoning mix. Add mix on top of bean dip, and layer remaining ingredients. Serve with tortilla chips.

3. For the fast, fun, and flirty: Chips, Salsa, and Micro-waved Bean Dip

• 1 can beans
• 1 8 oz. package of cream cheese (softened)
• 1 sm. can green chopped chilies
• 1 pkg. shredded Jack cheese

Add all of the ingredients into one bowl and microwave until the cheese melts, stirring occasionally. Serve with tortilla chips.

Found: Kate Middleton's White Derby Dress & Nude Pumps

Another high-profile Kate Middleton sighting, another super affordable fashion look to covet. Kate was spotted this weekend at the Epsom Derby horse race in a floaty white dress and jacket, with nude platform pumps. 3 Kate Middleton-Worthy REISS Dresses She Hasn't Worn (Yet)

I have this new little game I like to play. I like to browse through the REISS dress section and pick out which dresses I think Kate Middleton will be spotted wearing next. Kate -- now officially Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge -- is a huge fan of affordable British label REISS. Kate wore a REISS dress in her official engagement photos and Kate's nude REISS dress from her Obama meeting was an instant sell out, causing the REISS site to go dead for days after the sighting.

Best Seller: Vince Side Button Prep School Shirt

I'm really enjoying this vintage-y, preppy androgynous look that the Vince label is showcasing these days. The overall vibe has an obvious fashionableness about it, but it's relaxed and casual. This shirt is just the latest such find from Vince's Spring line.

The Vince Side Button Prep School Shirt is a current best seller at online fashion boutique ShopBop.com. I think it's a combination of the completely unique shape and the signature Vince slouch that make it so popular. This shirt has a 7-button front closure, which can be either buttoned up the front or folded over and buttoned at the hip (as shown here).

Beyond the distinctive buttoning options, this shirt has a standard fold-over collar, patch pocket at the bust, and shirttail hem. So, really, you are getting two shirts in one -- a standard striped button up and a funky hip-button shirt. You can see both options by clicking through and checking out the full range of photos.

In hip-button mode, this shirt looks great layered over a tee and paired with boyish chinos, as styled here.
