4 Fabulous Scarves to Pump Up Your Winter Wardrobe

Monday, October 31, 2011 • Permalink •

--By Kim Moshtaghi

Scarves aren't just for grandma anymore. They are for all gals who want to get more warmth without another bulky layer. Scarves have a way of keeping us warm without looking frumpy. It's a fashionably hip accessory to a winter outfit that looks upbeat. So, have some fashion sense and purchase a nice scarf to accompany your outfits.

Since we are still in October I figured why not stick with the Breast Cancer Awareness Month theme and pick out a fun pink scarf. This pink Michael Kors scarf has an awesome eccentric look and I love the zipper on the top going up like a pullover sweater. This scarf has more style than most jackets and therefore it's my number one choice for this winter's scarf must-have. There are 3 colors to choose from, but obviously pink is the way to go. Going out with a black or grey scarf means nothing -- you might as well just bundle up and look frumpy while you're at it. If you are going to go wrap a scarf around you, make a statement by buying a bright one. Rock your warmth with some color.

FOUND: Kristen Cavallari's Mayan Print Cardigan

Kristin Cavallari wearing Funktional Cardigan
Now that the cold weather seems to have officially arrived (sorry north-east crew), it's time to start bundling up in style.

While there 's always the temptation to pile grey on top of black on top of charcoal, a burst of rich, winter-appropriate color can offer a nice break from an already dreary day. Add in an on-trend print, and you are definitely going to turn heads in the sea of sadly functional cold weather wear. If you need a little inspiration, check out this cozy cardigan recently spotted on reality starlet Kristin Cavallari.

Kristin was recently spotted shopping for her Halloween pumpkin in a rich red and tan print cardigan, layered over a cowl-neck tee, skinny jeans and boots. Want to steal Kristin Cavallari's printed cardigan style for yourself? She's wearing the brand new Mayan Drape Cardigan in Autumn Print from Funktional. This nylon/ wool blend cardigan has mid-thigh length drape and all-over print. It's perfect for use as a lightweight jacket in more temperate climates, or for lounging around the house on the weekend.

Nine West Sale: 30% Off Tall Boots

Thursday, October 27, 2011 • Permalink •

Nine West Vintage America Collection Newberry Boot
Just yesterday, for the first time this season, it was actually chilly as I headed to work. Granted, chilly is a relative term when you are talking to a California girl. But, the subtle decrease in temperature made me feel that Fall had finally arrived. Of course, this means that I'm now completely ready to start wearing sweaters and boots and jackets. Yay for the cold weather!

If, like me, you feel that your cold weather wardrobe isn't quite ready for the real chill, this new sale might help you out. Through Sunday, October 30, at 11:59 p.m. ET, you can score 30% off all regular priced tall boots at Nine West. The discount is taken at checkout, so remember you get 30% off the already affordable prices listed.

This sale is a great opportunity to snag a pair of basic flat boots -- there are several different styles of riding boot-inspired flat boots. There are also a couple pair of dressier, stiletto-heeled boots and a couple pair of rugged moto-style boots. But, my favorites are these wedge-heeled suede boots with faux shearling details. They are casual and stylish, and come at a great price.

→ Buy the Nine West Vintage America Collection Newberry Boot, $189.00 ($132.30 after discount), at ninewest.com.

Review: L'Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Lash Mascara

Thursday, October 27, 2011 • Permalink •

L'Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Lash Mascara

Is it just me, or is the search for the perfect mascara the beauty equivalent of the search for the perfect pair of jeans? Some mascaras make your lashes look long, but not voluminous. Some mascaras plump, but make your lashes look stubby and clumpy. Really, it's such a pain. At any one time I have four or five mascaras in rotation just hoping that something will eventually work. Argh.

It really shouldn't come as a surprise that when given the chance to test out the new L'Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Lash Mascara I jumped at the chance. Hey, why not add a sixth mascara to my pile... I'll try anything once! This unique mascara's claim to fame? Its formula contains nylon and rayon fibers, which work to make lashes longer and fuller by adhering to your own lashes as you sweep on the mascara. That definitely piqued my interest. And, I can't lie, those Gwen Stefani commercials make it look so darn fabulous...

So, I received my tube of L'Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Lash Mascara, the waterproof edition. I normally avoid waterproof mascara because I hate the tug and pull game of removing it at the end of the day... but more on that later. I resolved to give it a try nevertheless. I applied the False Fiber mascara at the beginning of a normal work day -- two coats, just like my normal routine.

My first impression of this new mascara had to do with the ease of application. The formula was smooth and truly clump free. Like your standard California girl, I compulsively attacked my freshly coated lashes with an eyelash comb to remove all hints of clumping. But, in actuality, I probably didn't have to. The formula didn't mat up my lashes at all and it dried quite quickly, nicely avoiding eyelid smears. My lashes, already on the longer side (sorry, it's true), grazed my eyebrows when I opened my eyes wide -- my litmus test for lengthening mascara. The waterproof formula lasted all day without smudging and, to my surprise, removed easily with one swipe of a remover-soaked cotton ball.

L'Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Lash Mascara

So, is mascara the "jeans" of your beauty shopping quest? If so, I recommend giving L'Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Lash Mascara a try. Its unique formula is significantly different from other mascaras I've tried and a great choice for everyday wear.

Create the most outrageous false lash look with our newest, most technically advanced volume mascara - Voluminous False Fiber Lashes. With the power of sculpting fibers this dual fiber mascara wraps each lash to boost, sculpt & volumize building an incredible false lash look.

3 Strappy Sandals Worth the Cold Toes This Fall

Wednesday, October 26, 2011 • Permalink •

--By Kim Moshtaghi

Keeping your toes warm during the winter months is important, but sometimes it's hard to resist strappy stilettos. Personally, I can't wear close-toed shoes for very long because I want my pedicured toes to come out of hiding and catch some fresh air. Nevertheless, if you are going to risk getting cold feet, then you might as well make a grand appearance with some sexy open-toed strappy shoes. Nothing is more exhilarating then showing off some skin after covering it up for a long period of time. So, when the opportunity arises, expose your feet and make an impression.

Since glitz and sparkles are always in for Fall and Winter, why pass on the Badgley Mischkas? Golden, glitzy colors are spectacular during the colder months because their brightness still shines through the darkest winter days. The Badgley Mischka Junebug strappy sandals are a knockout. Hello sexy, and goodbye frumpy girl. This sparkly pair of strappy stilettos matches any outfit perfectly. Contrary to popular belief, this pair will be timeless because you can wear them whenever you feel glamorous. Don't forget to paint your toes red or plum.

Splurge: Costume National Lace-Up High Heel Booties

Tuesday, October 25, 2011 • Permalink •

Costume National Lace-Up High Heel Booties
We've all encountered those accessories that can "make" an outfit, but there are some accessories that can actually transform an outfit. That's a whole different kind of effect. One that's pulled off perfectly by these gorgeous boots.

These Costume National Lace-Up High Heel Booties are definitely transformative. Add these booties to any regular fall ensemble and instantly the whole look is darker, edgier and just a little more likely to be spotted downtown. Imagine with me... skinny jeans and a crew neck cashmere sweater. A rather simple, classic outfit. Now add these boots... poof! Suddenly the slim lines of the pants and the iconic cut of the sweater have become almost subversive. It's like magic. I consider that kind of specialness totally worthy of a splurge.

The Costume National bootie is made from calfskin with a 4.25" heel and .75" platform, for the feel of a 3.5" heel. Not bad. These fun boots will see you through all of Fall and Winter, adding spice to your outfits all the while. Do a little fashion math and the cost-per-wear definitely works out well.

→ Buy the Costume National Lace-Up High Heel Booties, $850.00, at shopbop.com; shipping and returns are free.

Fashion Cents: Fall Wardrobe Shopping on a Budget - $1,000

Tuesday, October 25, 2011 • Permalink •

--By Kimberly Turner

I have been hoping and praying that the economic conditions would have turned around by now. In the summer time, clothes seem less expensive because you don't need the big winter coat and boots. But once the weather starts to cool, you yearn for the warmth of cashmere and shoes that hang on to your feet with more than just a strap.

Now, don't get me wrong, I don't mind shopping more "cents"ibly but I do miss having a bigger budget for my purchases. But updating a wardrobe – mine or a client – works the same for me in good and not optimal financial economic times. The consistent steps are:
  1. Assessing the items currently in my closet – if something doesn't fit, is too dated, or badly worn it gets pulled from the closet.

  2. I work with the remaining items to see what should be paired with what to make a complete and fashionable outfit and WHAT is missing (i.e. what items should be in my closet so it feels up-to-date).

  3. I make a list and shop for the WHAT which are usually the season's trendy pieces like animal print tops, color blocking, polka dots, nude shoes and more.
Now see how I take these steps when shopping at Chicago's Water Tower Place for a client with a $1,000 budget. Makes cents!

3 Showstopper Fall Leggings

Monday, October 24, 2011 • Permalink •

--By Kim Moshtaghi

When I was a little kid, I would cringe every time my mom made me wear leggings. Even the thought of wearing leggings scared me. But now, when winter comes along, I enjoy wearing leggings with an oversized sweater or underneath a hot mini skirt. Wearing leggings allows me to enhance boring sweaters and revive rarely used belts. Leggings go wonderfully with sky-high open-toed stilettos, which I still want to wear during the winter months, and they go wonderfully with boots of every style.

Whether you decide to wear leggings with heels or boots, the look is magnificent and it is all over the runways. Feeling slim and snug behind fluffy and furry clothes is always fun during the cold months, but please remember this rule: the funkier the legging, the simpler the top... unless you're like Lady Gaga, and you've both decided to ignore the fashion rule book.

Just like Gaga ignores the rules, Betsey Johnson also ignored the rules when she designed this pair of textured leopard leggings. However, this simple black and white leopard will match many different clothing colors, and the color scheme will allow you to wear the leggings more often than the typical multi-colored leopard pattern. Imagine this with an oversized off the shoulder wool sweater, a thick charcoal belt, and some sky high heels. Maybe some rules are meant to be broken...

FOUND: Anne Hathaway's Black Skinny Jeans

Monday, October 24, 2011 • Permalink •

Anne Hathaway wearing Henry and Belle Jeans
For those of you still waiting patiently for the skinny jeans "trend" to pass... you may be waiting a good long time. This is one trend that's showing no signs of slowing down. In fact, skinny styles keep popping up on more and more style-setting celebs and fashionistas, and the variety of colors and details just keeps expanding. Maybe it's time to embrace the trend, you naysayers.

One of the most recent celeb skinny jeans sightings was this adorable pic of Anne Hathaway walking her dog in a chic outfit centered around black skinny jeans. Paired with a white tee and black blazer, and topped with a white fedora, this skinny-centric outfit is easy style at its best. Want to snag Anne Hathaway's black skinny jeans style for yourself? She's wearing the Ideal Super Skinny Ankle in Onyx wash by Henry & Belle.

The Ideal Super Skinny Ankle Jean is a super slim-fitting jean -- basically a jegging style -- made from an ultra stretchy blend of 72% Cotton/ 13% Polyester/ 13% Rayon/ 2% Lycra. This style comes in the Onyx wash spotted on Anne, plus a dark blue wash called Rustic and a lighter blue was called Superior. This popular skinny jean has also found fans in starlets Ashley Greene, Amy Adams and Emmy Rossum.

Give, Get and Remember Style for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Friday, October 21, 2011 • Permalink •

--By Kim Moshtaghi

Kim's grandma
In memory of my beautiful, classy grandmother, I would like to dedicate this article to her and all other victims of breast cancer. My grandmother was a simple woman with exceptional beauty inside and out. I will never forget her smell and the way she would always button every single button on her cardigan. I never understood her cute quirks, but now I don’t want to understand them...I just miss them. To all who have or had a loved one who has been affected by breast cancer, please get your frequent check ups and never stop believing in the research behind it.

Since pink is the color for breast cancer month, and since my grandmother rarely wore pink, I will feature one pink item and the rest of the features will be something my grandmother would have worn.

My first feature is from Ann Inc., which has donated $2.7 million to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Aside from the generous donation, they are featuring a sexy bracelet with intertwined copper chains along with a pinkish-red glittering gems. I love the dangly accents off the bracelet. It is definitely a perfect accessory to wear with bulky, warm clothes this season. Unfortunately, only $5 of this purchase goes to the foundation.

FOUND: Ashley Olsen's Simple Sneakers

Wednesday, October 19, 2011 • Permalink •

Ashley Olsen wearing Superga Classic Sneakers
Even those of us who worship at the altar of completely inappropriate footwear have to admit, sometimes you really just need a great sneaker. Travel by airplane. A long car ride. A day of walking around the urban environment of your choice. All situations where a great sneaker -- as opposed to a completely not-ok-outside-of-the-gym athletic shoe -- is the preferred shoe option. But, it's easy to be lost in the sea of sneakers. What's a fashionista to choose? How about taking a clue from a legit fashion powerhouse.

Child star turned fashion mogul Ashley Olsen was recently snapped wearing a pair of simple, slightly retro looking sneakers that are perfect for casual situations and long days of walking. Want to steal Ashley Olsen's sneaker look for yourself? She's wearing the Superga Classic sneaker.

The simplicity of the Superga sneaker is ideal because it won't take away from the rest of your outfit -- no unnecessary adornments or contrasting colors in sight. It's available in a nice selection of basic colors: Black, Navy, White and Pink. I really like the Navy pair shown on Ashley here, but a classic White pair is also a great closet staple.

→ Buy the Superga Classic Sneaker, $65.00, at singer22.com.

Best Seller: Tory Burch Sophie Wedge Pumps

Tuesday, October 18, 2011 • Permalink •

Tory Burch Sophie Wedge Pumps
We all know about those seen-everywhere, sell-like-hotcakes Tory Burch flats. But, did you also know that the exact same look is also available in a wedge? It really shouldn't surprise you that those wedges are also a huge best seller.

These Tory Burch Sophie Wedge Pumps are current best sellers at contemporary fashion retailer shopbop.com. They are basically the same design as Tory Burch Reva flats -- same rounded toe, topstitched topline and iconic logo medallion. The addition of a stacked 3.5" heel turns the instantly recognizable flat into an equally recognizable wedge.

These Tory Burch wedges are great for those days where you feel like a little extra height, but still want a little comfort -- wedge pumps are much more comfortable over the course of a long day than a pencil-thin stiletto (as much as I hate to admit it). The Sophie Wedge comes in basic Black and Royal Tan, a light brown. Both are constructed from a pebbled cowhide upper with stacked heel and rubber sole (love the rubber sole!).

→ Buy the Tory Burch Sophie Wedge Pumps, $295.00, at shopbop.com; shipping and returns are free.

Invest: Diane von Furstenberg Tuxedo for Women

Tuesday, October 18, 2011 • Permalink •

Diane von Furstenberg Tuxedo for Women
When it comes to investment dressing, there are few items as timeless and singularly spectacular as the tuxedo for women. Has androgyny ever looked so sexy? And, really, who doesn't want to channel Marlene Dietrich in a '50s Paris nightclub? Love it.

I've been looking for a good excuse to go out in a gorgeous, sleek tuxedo for a while. Yes, the visions of Marlene (as well as lovelies like Charlize Theron, Lauren Hutton and Chloe Sevigny) are a big factor, but the celeb envy isn't the only reason. The tuxedo is an incredibly flattering choice for women, and a fun option for those days where you want to dress up but don't feel like wearing a cocktail dress all night. Plus, it's such a timeless look. Like a LBD or a luxe trench coat, a ladies tuxedo will never go out of style. Not only is that a great factor for building a wardrobe, but also a big part of making the decision to invest in a quality version.

If you are in the place to invest in a great woman's tuxedo, consider this gorgeous Diane von Furstenberg tuxedo. It's comprised of two separate pieces: the Tailor Tuxedo Pants and the Meyer Tuxedo Blazer. Both pieces are 100% wool with moiré detail -- tuxedo stripes on the pants, lapels on the blazer -- which are best viewed in the close up pictures you can see when you click through. The pants have a higher rise, which gives the look an overall '70s-ish feel, but doesn't vibe overly dated. The final result is a quality tuxedo that is more affordable than a super high-end YSL version, but still a great quality that will last for years.

→ Buy the Diane von Furstenberg Tailor Tuxedo Pants, $345.00, at shopbop.com; shipping and returns are free.

→ Buy the Diane von Furstenberg Meyer Tuxedo Blazer, $465.00, at shopbop.com; shipping and returns are free.

3 Chic Watches that Stand Out for Fall

Monday, October 17, 2011 • Permalink •

--By Kim Moshtaghi

Although the day goes by fast when you're busy, sometimes a hot watch makes the day go by even faster. A cool looking watch always catches my eye. Whether the watch is bold and chunky, or delicate and feminine, it works for me. A fashion statement that serves a purpose can never be a bad thing. It is a very justifiable purchase.

Since purple is a hit this time of year, I recommend the Elite Sport Watch from BCBG. I love the casual silicone rubber band and the explosive purple color. The simple band material offsets the square metal case and rhinestone pave dial. With the date and time glaring back at you, you will never be late or get your dates confused again.

FOUND: Jessica Alba's Sleek Flare Jeans

Monday, October 17, 2011 • Permalink •

Jessica Alba wearing Flare Jeans
Jessica Alba, who just gave birth to her second daughter in August of this year, was recently snapped looking gorgeous and California casual in flare jeans and a flowy blouse paired with a scarf. Of course, when doesn't Jessica Alba look amazing? But her laid-back outfit in this picture does a particularly great job of combining comfort and ease with style.

Want to steal Jessica Alba's flare jeans style for yourself? She's wearing the Jesse Spano's Flare Jeans from Pray for Mother Nature. Ok, first of all, let's all acknowledge that naming a pair of fabulous jeans after a Saved by the Bell character is a little bit of genius. But, the jeans themselves stand out beyond their catchy name.

These jeans come in range of washes, all made from super soft cotton/ polyester/ lycra blend denim. They have classic 5-pocket styling and a super on-trend flare leg opening. But, the good vibes don't stop there. California-based Pray for Mother Nature has a philanthropic bent -- this environmentally friendly line donates a portion of its proceeds to Heal the Bay, a charity that works to restore the Santa Monica Bay.

The Jesse Spano's Flare Leg jeans is a great weekend jean, as Jessica is showing us in this picture. But, darker washes could be dressed up with a blazer to create a casual Friday look for a less formal work environment. We've found these cute flares in three washes, at three different stores, but all on sale... score!

→ Buy the Pray for Mother Nature Jesse Spano's Flare Jeans in North Star, $49.50 (was $165), at shopbop.com; shipping and returns are free.

→ Buy the Pray for Mother Nature Jesse Spano's Flare Jeans in Geyser, $59.99 (was $158), at boutiquetoyou.com.

Review: Laura Mercier Flawless Face System

Friday, October 14, 2011 • Permalink •

We may all have slightly different taste in makeup -- from uber-natural to sophisticated to all-out glam -- but I think we can all agree on one thing: we want to start with a flawless base. The Laura Mercier brand has long been known as the go-to place to get skin perfecting base layers, like their award-winning concealers and cult-favorite foundations. But, thanks to a new commitment to perfecting the flawless face, it's easier than ever to find the Laura Mercier products you need to get your own version of the flawless face.

Laura Mercier Flawless Face - The Flawless Face Philosophy

Laura believes there are four steps to creating the flawless face: primer, foundation, concealer and setting powder. The new online Flawless Face Finder helps you to find the products you need from each of the four steps to create your personal version of a flawless canvas. For example, I prefer a very lightweight, translucent foundation, but others may prefer a matte or complete coverage option. The Finder asks the questions necessary to get at the right formulations for your skin type and personal preferences. Plus, you can find step-by-step instructions for using the products to achieve the best results possible.

I recently had the opportunity to try out my own version of the Laura Mercier flawless face, from Flawless Face Finder to actual products. After answering simple questions about my skin type, coverage preferences, skin tone and problem areas in need of concealing, I got my Flawless Face prescription: Hydrating Foundation Primer, Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20, Secret Concealer and Translucent Loose Setting Powder.

Laura Mercier Flawless Face - The Flawless Face Finder

I've been using Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer off and on for years, but this is the first time I've had the chance to try out the whole system at once. I wish I would have tried sooner! As good as the Tinted Moisturizer alone is at creating a slightly more perfected, yet still natural and translucent face, the four products together are even better. They work together to truly create a better looking base. The Primer is smoothing and creamy, and keeps the rest of the look in place all day. The Secret Concealer covers well and doesn't settle into creases (which might also be a product of the Primer's help). But, my big revelation was the Loose Setting Powder. I haven't used powder in ages because I don't like the way it settles into lines and creates a chalky look -- but not so with this Laura Mercier powder. It kind of melted into my face to create a finished look. Love it.

Altogether, I can't say enough good about the Laura Mercier Flawless Face system. If, like me, you're already a fan of a single Laura Mercier product, it's definitely worth it to try the whole system -- it really is greater than the sum of its parts. If you've never tried Laura Mercier, the new online Finder makes it so easy to find the right products that you really can't go wrong.

Laura Mercier Logo

Laura believes there are four steps to create a flawless face—primer, foundation, concealer, and setting powder. Each product has been specifically developed to allow every woman to achieve an incredibly even, smooth, yet natural-looking complexion.

For more information on Laura's flawless philosophy and tips on how to use each product within each step is located here.

If you are telling others, they can get their perfect products to create their ultimate flawless face using the flawless face finder.

Steal: Luxury Rebel Kai Suede Platform Booties

Wednesday, October 12, 2011 • Permalink •

Luxury Rebel Kai Suede Platform Booties
These new suede wedge booties vibe way more expensive than their $150, and have a construction that you'd normally find with a pricier shoe. The overall package? A 100% steal.

The Luxury Rebel Kai Suede Platform Bootie is made from a cowhide suede upper with a leather sole. The round toe and covered wedge heel is nearly unadorned, except for the exposed back zipper with suede-covered pull. The 4.5" heel is tempered by a substantial 1" platform, resulting in the feel of a mere 3.5" heel. This suede design comes in the rich grey pictured here -- called "Tank" -- as well as a sleek black suede. This same silhouette is available from Luxury Rebel in a black cowhide leather as well, but doesn't feel nearly as special without the suede texture.

Wear this suede bootie with your favorite jeans this fall -- it's a natural pairing. If you are feeling a little funky, try these wedge booties with a skirt or dress. Just remember to pre-treat your suede to prevent stains (and be sure to check out our tutorial on how to clean suede shoes)!

Jewel Tones, A Woman's Other Best Friend

Tuesday, October 11, 2011 • Permalink •

--By Kim Moshtaghi

Diamonds are a girl's best friend, but don't forget about all of the colored stones. Speaking of color, this season's jewel tones will make you swoon. Although some designers do pastel for the winter, I like to keep my pastels for the spring. Bold jewel tones, however, go hand in hand with the turn of the season.

Since emeralds are my favorite stone, I want to showcase a sexy yet elegant emerald green dress from Diane von Furstenberg. This sassy pleated skirt dress with stretch sleeves is so versatile. The stretched silk gives this dress an extra shine and a perfect feminine fit. It's versatile because it's not too tight, nor too baggy looking. It has a great flowy skirt bottom with a nice top to balance the whole look out. I would show off this dress with a ruby colored clutch along with ruby colored studs. Enough said.

Comfy Winter Pajamas That Look Great

Thursday, October 06, 2011 • Permalink •

--By Kim Moshtaghi

Rain was pouring outside my office windows all day yesterday and since the whole office is one big window, I couldn't help but daydream about being in my bed and getting cozy. I wanted to be underneath the covers with my warm pajamas and a stack of fashion magazines. But, that fantasy lasted about half a minute and then the phone rang. When it's gloomy and cold, there is nothing better than comfy pajamas that will make you want melt in your bed. So, why not think about purchasing some soft and feminine sleepwear that will prevent you from catching a cold.

I love thermal pajamas because they keep me warm all night. Victoria's Secret has a very adorable pair of thermal pajamas that will make the cold season an enjoyable one. The long sleeved shirt and tapered pants come in an array of colors and even have a girly cuteness to them that will get you giggling every time you see yourself wearing them.

Top Pick: ASOS Padded Sweater with Stitch Detail

Wednesday, October 05, 2011 • Permalink •

ASOS Premium Padded Jumper With Stitch Detail
In a sea of similar sweaters, this ASOS Padded Sweater (aka "Jumper") with Stitch Detail stands out. Sure, it would be great if it was made from cashmere or some other natural fabric, but the price is right and the style is fantastic.

This Viscose/ Acrylic/ Cotton sweater features a circle-stitch padded front that contrasts with the simple, slim crew neck design. It comes in both Camel and Orange, but the Camel color really is the winning look. Try layering it over a white button down shirt and pairing with a bright pencil skirt for a look that's work-appropriate, but still fashionable. For the weekend, try this sweater with skinny jeans and wedge boots.

3 New Leather Jackets and How to Spice Up an Old One

Tuesday, October 04, 2011 • Permalink •

--By Kim Moshtaghi

Leather jackets are not just for the sassy biker gals, but for all who like to keep warm in style. Leather is a great way to look pulled together, slim and rockin’ all in one. Whether you are flaunting leather gloves or a seductive black leather jacket, you won't be feeling frumpy... unlike most winter clothes. So, put out the vibe in some leather gear. Whether you cruise on a bike or like to keep the wind away from your face, leather jackets are the ultimate protection with an extremely sexy attitude.

My first pick is a cropped leather jacket. This may not be the warmest leather jacket around, but its definitely a cute one. The layered feather design at the shoulders and back give it a unique spark along with the laced up back detail. I think it would be a hot combo with some tight jeans.

Steal: Everly Jewel Pleated Skirt $45.00

Tuesday, October 04, 2011 • Permalink •

Everly Jewel Pleated Skirt
Adding a standout piece in a bright, jewel-toned color is a great way to update your wardrobe for Fall. This affordable skirt from Everly comes in two gorgeous colors -- forest green and magenta -- that are each Fall perfect.

This polyester skirt features a translucent shell with a partial lining that leaves a slim bit of the translucent showing along the bottom. The midi length is super popular this season, and also happens to be comfortable and flattering. The Everly Pleated Skirt in green is a little more subdued than its magenta cousin. It could go to work in a less conservative work environment -- just pair it with a fitted blazer. But, it's real calling seems to be brunch. I don't know why, but this skirt screams brunch to me. The magenta version is great for cocktails or a fun night out.

Both colors are available for just $45. Not a bad price for so much Fall style.

The 5 Best Belts for Work Under $40

Monday, October 03, 2011 • Permalink •

I think belts are an underrated accessory. The best belts can pull and outfit together and make simple separates look like a cohesive outfit, all while cinching slightly large waistbands (if necessary). Obviously, there is a lot of variety when it comes to belts, so it's best to focus when shopping for this accessory. Which of your outfits needs a belt? Are you accessory-deficient in your weekend wardrobe or your weekday wardrobe? Once you know what you need, it's fun to add to your belt selection by incorporating new colors and textures.

For now, I'd like to take a few moments to concentrate belts for work, and specifically belts for work that won't cost a fortune. These smart work belts will add some extra oomph to your weekday ensembles, at a reasonable price.

No list of the best belts would be complete without a simple skinny black belt. This super affordable leather belt is a must-have. Already have a black skinny? It's also available in Rust, an orangy-brown.
