For this week’s "Under $100" post I’ve decided to go super basic. Who doesn’t need just one more fabulous little black dress?
My closet is full of LBDs. I love the simplicity of starting with the sleek blank canvas a perfectly constructed black dress provides. And, unlike some, I do see value in having a wardrobe of black dresses on hand. So, in the interest of offering a little something for every occasion, I’ve picked five sale priced dresses that represent a range of sartorial needs. Check them out…
I’m starting with the punchline: this dress is my favorite of the pack. This chic bi-stretch sheath dress is super modern, but with hints of vintage flair. It could go to work or to cocktails, making it super versatile. Unfortunately, it’s available in the most limited size range of my picks, so if you love it and it’s in your size, grab it quick.

The seaming on this fit-and-flare dress is much more intricate than you would anticipate at this price point. The result is a frock that is crazy flattering because it fits super slim just under the bust (the skinniest part of nearly every woman), then flares out to just skim the hips. Plus, it has an exposed back zip for added flair.

Finding a quality leather dress for under $100 is a nearly impossible task, so I couldn’t pass up including this find. Yes, it is real leather, combined with jersey panels, and it’s available in a full range of sizes.
→ Buy the Neiman Marcus Leather Sleeveless Dress, $92.50 (was $289.00), at lastcall.com.
For a night out that calls for something a little sophisticated, but not stuffy, try this knit dress with a faux leather pleat panel. Believe it or not, this dress is machine washable. Yay!
→ Buy the Ali Ro Sleeveless Paneled Combo Dress, $97.50 (was $298.00), at lastcall.com.
I’ll close out my picks with one more office-to-dinner dress that is so versatile I think it’s worth the $0.80 fudge on the “Under $100” theme. This jersey cowlneck dress can easily take on a cardigan or blazer for an office where sleeveless isn’t appropriate, and can be quickly dressed up for a night out.
