Sale Finds to Wear Now & Into Fall

Fall is literally around the corner and, in preparation for fall, I have searched sales everywhere to find things that are fall-worthy at a sale price. With Labor Day a week away, there are a lot of sales coming up, so shop to keep you styling and the economy going! Fall trends are not as rigid this year; fashion is still bright, but more sophisticated. I see a lot of pleated tops, bright dresses, and longer shoulder-padded jackets. Basically, my mother’s old closet would come in handy with a few alterations.

Sales at the end of summer are too tempting for me because there aren’t really seasons in San Diego, and therefore, I feel like I have to take advantage. My goal is to stay focused on clothing that I can wear according to season. I enjoyed my hunt for fall fashion worthy clothes in the sale sections, but it was hard to narrow my picks.

Being biased towards black and simplicity, it was love at first sight with the Suzabelle Galliano Swing Dress. The dress definitely has a sexy swing, and I particularly like it because it’s not skin tight-- leaving a lot to the imagination. It’s a shorter dress that you could wear with thick or patterned leggings for fall. But, my ultimate favorite aspect is that it has pockets. I mean, it’s perfect not only for putting your lipstick in there, but it actually gives off a fun vibe. The swing dress is a classic comfortable dress that will help you disguise a “fat day”-- slip this flirty dress on and it will take care of the rest. It’s nice to rely on the dress for a change!

Ladies who don’t live in Southern California will appreciate my next item: the Mackage Jazmina Coat in the fog color is great for fall! It’s a soft color for a typically more intense trench coat. This coat will do its job by keeping you warm and well dressed for the day out. I like the whole look along with the detachable soft leather belt that will make the potentially bulky jacket slimming.

And now for the bottom half, I have my favorite style of pants up for grabs. I adore trousers, and I’m continually fascinated with how hot they look on every female. Better yet, this pair is a jean trouser—the Anlo Lane Sailor Trouser. They’ll never go out of style, and work well for every single season, because what looks good every time is never out of fashion!

Fashion Week: Mackage Goes Rock-Chic for Fall

With Spring almost here, I feel it's time to burst out with the spring pinks and greens -- there was just something about all the rain and gray days here in So Cal this winter that has caused me to pretty much fast forward mentally to nearly summer. So without further ado, we dress for Spring, then bikini for Summer and what do you know, it's already fall again. Designers know that they must get the best out for fall early so all buyers and trendsetters will include their pieces for that season as the must haves. I mean the magazines are surely well into summer issues and I'm sure with NY Fashion Week just finished up in February, fall coats and amazing outerwear are on the mind.

So, while you're reading along in your sundress and espadrilles, check out Mackage's Fall/Winter 2009 collection, Mackage.com. The runway show at Bryant Park on February 18th featured coats for men and women with a glamorous rock and roll edge. Mackage is celebrating their 10 year anniversary designing, so why not rock out and celebrate with one of their fantastic high collared coats or a shiny zip-up jacket for a hipster day in Soho look you can wear in LA or Kansas City... think uber chic Kansas.

Erin Lucas, from the show The City on MTV was in attendance at the show, confirming that yes, everyone is looking forward to fall... already! Designers Elisa Dahan and Eran Elfassy of Mackage approach outerwear with the idea that it is a key part to being totally fashionable and not just another hoodie to throw on with jeans or oversized trench coat to keep off the rain - thank goodness for these saviors of season!

Mackage, being exclusively the only outerwear brand to show at NY Fashion Week this year, also contributes to the greater good! By hosting a coat drive with Housing Works in NYC, those who don't have that extra layer of warmth and fashion will be overwhelmed with all the coats New Yorkers were encouraged to drop off.
