I will be the first to admit, I have a love-hate relationship with Gap. I can't help but to fall for the inexpensive, yet on-trend fashions. But, once you get to that place in your life where you can afford luxe labels-- even if it's just every once in a while-- it's hard to go back to a closet full of mass retailer clothing. I think it's really all about finding the right pieces at Gap because, when you do, they fit in with a modern fashionista's wardrobe and add just as much snap as a more luxurious item.

I just wore a Gap slim burnout tee yesterday, paired with Twenty8Twelve boyfriend jeans and Michael Kors snakeskin embossed leather shoes. The simplicity of the tee was a perfect match for the more trendy jeans and intricately detailed shoes. And, I think this latest Gap find would be able to pull of a similar role in any wardrobe.

The Gap Boyfriend Belt is a very classic 100% leather belt with simple matte silvertone buckle. The snap comes from the rich, saturated colors available-- Flame (pictured), Olive, True Black and Brown. This is the ideal belt to complement the retro look jeans that are so popular this season. I'd also use this rugged belt to cinch a delicate cashmere cardigan for an unexpected juxtaposition of textures. At only $34.50, there's a lot of style in this inexpensive Gap find.

There is nothing sexier than that crisp, clean, smooth men’s shirt to walk around in while you’re getting ready-- better yet, wear it out! Wearing a men’s collared shirt is seductively mysterious, without revealing your lace bra and underwear. I have started a fun and diverse collection of collared shirts. I love the fact that I can wear them from work to happy hour and feel hot and confident while sippin’ on my club soda.

Collared shirts have always been talk of Tinseltown, especially after Sharon Stone famously wore them to movie premieres and in movie scenes, making the Gap collared shirt the “it” symbol of refreshed Hollywood. Now, this was a few years ago, but Carolina Herrera also made the white collared shirt her fashion staple. Coming from a fashion legend, that means a lot! I could go on and on, to increase the credibility and emphasize the significance of this magical shirt, but I think you all get the point.

The first shirt is from Banana Republic, it is a classic white cotton collared shirt. The best part about this shirt is that it is wrinkle free, so you don’t have to worry about ironing this shirt, saving you an extra 10 minutes in the morning. It’s great to have a polished stylish look without the fuss. It’s a great shirt to travel with-- might as well a get a couple of them.

In order to liven it up a bit, I chose a Striped Tie-Sleeve Shirt from Gap as my second choice. I love the casualness of this shirt, and the cute rolled up sleeves. I think this would be great paired with a white skirt or jeans. The sleeves give it a hip flair, suitable for spring and summer. This may not be the most businesslike collared shirt out, but it definitely gives the collared shirt a younger youthful perspective.

Lastly, my favorite shirt is by Craig Taylor. This subtle blue and white shirt is sexy with a capital S. As shown in the picture, it would rock with a belt to cinch the waist or it would look just as sassy with the material flowing as-is. This shirt lives up to its name, “Used To Be His Shirt”-- I love it! The three-quarter sleeve gives it an edgy-classic look that makes me want to keep collecting these amazing stylish shirts.

I'd pair this top with wide leg jeans and espadrille wedges for a retro spring ensemble.

Last year I picked up a chic tie-neck blouse from Doo.Ri for Gap and I LOVE it. LOVE it. Seriously. It's just as fabulous as anything from the traditional Doo.Ri line. I live in spare little tank tops during the summer months, so I like to keep an ample supply in my closet as the hottest days of the year draw close. This spaghetti strap camisole is super bare without being at all tarty. I love that in a tank top.
