FOUND: Taylor Momsen's Gossip Girl Maxi Dress

Gypsy 05 Paloma Silk Strapless Maxi Dress as seen on Taylor Momsen
Gypsy 05 Paloma Maxi Dress

$209.00
Available at: blacklabelboutique.com

It's less than a week to the season premiere of Gossip Girl. Not that I've been counting down the minutes or anything... it's just that television is so bleak on the fashion front without Gossip Girl. I'm craving that weekly dose of all that is It in fashion; yearning for the rush of seeing an ensemble on the small screen, then hurrying to ID the label and track it down before it sells out. Making due with the early photos from the set is just not the same.

But, make do I will. This recent pic from the Gossip Girl set shows Taylor Momsen as Jenny looking chic and sweet-- having fully recovered from that tragic '70s flashback haircut from last season. I can't wait to see how Jenny is managing her role as the new queen bee of Constance. If this picture is any indication, I'd say Jenny's making all of the right kind of waves. The hair is angelic, the bright lips are right on trend and the dress... fabulous.

Want to steal Taylor Momsen as Jenny's fabulous maxi dress style for yourself? She's sporting the new Paloma Maxi Dress from starlet favorite label Gypsy 05. Truthfully, I've always thought of Gypsy 05 as a quintessential west coast label. Their flowing frocks and nouveau-boho prints fit in perfectly with the laid back SoCal beach culture. LA girls Lauren Conrad, Paris Hilton, Vanessa Hudgens and Audrina Patridge are all Gypsy 05 fans. But, seeing is believing. If the Gossip Girl costume department's gift for predicting bi-coastal fashion trends holds true, we're on the verge of Gypsy 05 becoming a nationwide hit. I'd stock up now.

New & Hot: Tibi Phoenician Dress

Toffee Phoenician One Shoulder Dress
Tibi Phoenician Dress

$546.00
Available at: chickdowntown.com

I have a really horrible dress buying habit. Most women plan to attend a fabulous event and then scramble to find a dress. Not me. I have this habit of snapping up fabulous dresses and then scrambling to find an event that will allow me to wear them. It's totally backwards, I know.

The latest object of my desire is this new Toffee Phoenician Dress from glammy label Tibi. This 100% silk twill one-shoulder maxi dress is retro glam at its best. It's a modern take on a classic '70s aesthetic with its swirling vine pattern and single flutter sleeve. I'd pair this with simple flat sandals for a summer garden party or strappy platform sandals and a vintage gold party purse for a night out in the City. Now I just need to find an event that will justify purchasing yet another not-so-work-appropriate dress. I'm open to ideas.

Spring Fashion: Seriously Sexy Maxi Dresses

--By Kim Moshtaghi

Victoria's Secret Cotton jersey maxi dress
Victoria's Secret Maxi Dress

$69.00
Available at: victoriassecret.com

It’s finally warm enough for the maxi dress. Every year at this time it gets hard to fight the urge and avoid the maxi dress. The long, air circulating dress is sexy, sassy and cool. It never looks like you are trying too hard when wearing the maxi. Full of spunk and boldness, the maxi dress is perfect with some nice sandals and great big earrings. The bohemian vibe mixed with an elegant look is wonderful-- love it!

I get such positive imagery when I look at someone wearing the maxi dress and I always get compliments when I’m wearing mine. If you get a maxi dress dirty while walking on the beach, it’s no problem, you brush off the sand and continue on with the day. That’s the attitude the maxi dress comes with, a sort of carelessness, yet sophisticated in its own mysterious way. Not to get too philosophical over it, but hey, some things bring it out in me… the maxi dress being one of them!

Love Tease Halter Maxi Dress
Love Tease Halter Dress

$69.00
Available at: macys.com

Moving on to maxi dresses for purchase so you can feel as poetic as me, here we go. Victoria Secret is the definition of sexy, so where better to go to find a seriously sexy maxi dress. The tough part is that every dress on those models looks exceptionally gorgeous. It’s tough not to want them all when they’re on those beautiful models. I really like this orange-ish Cotton Jersey Maxi Dress. It’s an adjustable halter dress with a tie waist and a large keyhole-- wow, it’s hot! The color and the easy going style give it an ultimate purchase-worthy look.

For a maxi that you can transform for an incredible night time formal outing try this stunning Love Tease Halter Maxi Dress from Macy’s. It’s all black with a silver medallion ornament with rhinestones below the chest. The steep v-neckline and the simplicity of the dress give it a fancy look. This dress can be transformed from daytime summer fun to evening glamour by slipping on some one inch open-toed heels-- anything taller will take away from its sophistication.

A different floral looking dress is all it takes to fit in perfectly for the summer and Bloomingdales has that covered. The sweat Sweet Pea Deep V-Neck Maxi Dress with sheer floral print all over is awesome. The three-quarter sleeves with elastic cuffs give it an edge over other maxi dresses. Because of the shape and print of the dress the v-neckline looks extra steep. This would look great on a smaller breasted woman, because they can pull it off with class! There is a small keyhole underneath the very steep v-neck, for an extra spice, just in case the v-neck didn’t do it enough justice!

FOUND: Katie Holmes's Navy Maxi Dress

Katie Holmes wearing Juicy Couture
photo: people.com

Adorable Katie Holmes is the talk of the town this week thanks to a recent, sweetly honest interview with Glamour magazine and accompanying amazing photo shoot. No longer gawky Joey Potter, the now 30-something Katie just keeps getting more chic and more lovely. Is it really any wonder that we can't turn away when she chooses to speak?

Beyond her general star appeal, I simply adore the style Katie has been cultivating over the past few years. She's a jean queen (I can so relate), but can still pull off couture when the occasion calls for it. More often than not, Katie is rocking a super casual style with an air of elegance than transforms cotton and denim into a regal ensemble. A perfect example of this sartorial gift is this recent picture of Katie leaving a restaurant with husband Tom Cruise.

Katie may be on a dinner date with one of the biggest stars in the world, but her outfit is hardly the kind of over-the-top, label crazy ensemble we'd expect from any other star of her caliber. Instead Ms. Holmes has chosen a super pretty, California casual maxi dress. Add a simple white cardigan and Katie's ready to go. Want to steal Katie Holmes's casual-chic maxi dress style for yourself? She's wearing a modern boho creation from the ultimate laid back label, Juicy Couture.

I love the color combination on display in this dress-- navy, white and golden yellow. It's a traditional color combo that you just don't see all that often. I have to wonder why, because this modern maxi dress looks fresh, but still chic enough to wear for a casual night out. Love it.

FOUND: Katie Holmes's Eli Stone Maxi Dress

Katie Holmes wearing Vince maxi dress
photo: people.com

It's that time of year again. Stars and starlets everywhere are heading back to work to make the delicious season premiere episodes that we'll be dying to watch come the first week of September. And, with the increase in small screen work product comes an influx of on-the-set paparazzi pictures to leave us guessing about upcoming story lines and sartorial revelations.

One of the most eagerly anticipated television debuts comes in the form of an extra special guest role for Katie Holmes on the oddly supernatural legal drama Eli Stone. I typically avoid legal shows, having already suffered through and more-or-less successfully escaped a legal career, but the promise of a post-Tom and Suri Katie Holmes acting gig has left me intrigued. I may have to tune in just because.

One of the first glimpses of Katie Holmes on the Eli Stone set has just surfaced. Katie is strolling, script and Starbucks in hand, wearing an oh-so-trendy maxi dress in a modern tribal print. Want to steal Katie Holmes's on the set clothing style for yourself? She's sporting the brand new Ikat Long Dress from Vince. This stunning, pure silk maxi dress features criss-cross spaghetti straps, a gently gathered shape, and an nice easy fit. Ahh, nothing like swaddling yourself in yards and yards of silk to make you feel like walking luxury.

Sultry Summer Dresses Under $99

--By Kim Moshtaghi

Fun and Flirty Cocktail Dresses
Fun and Flirty Cocktail Dress

$90.00
Available at: edressme.com

Finding fashionable dresses for under $99 is tough, but eDressMe.com has made it easy, thanks to their section dedicated to dresses under $99! This website is worth visiting for more than just their dresses and under $99 section-- they have everything from sneak peaks of new items coming to their website to an informative shape guide for ladies who need a little guidance. Not only is this wonderful site based out of one of the fashion capitals of the world-- New York-- they also have an impressive resume, having been featured extensively in popular magazines. And why wouldn’t they be, when they are carrying clothing from Trina Turk, Nicole Miller, Nanette Lepore and many more hot designers?

A-line Jungle Print Maxi Dresses
A-Line Jungle Print Maxi Dress

$92.00
Available at: edressme.com

Not only is this site easy to use, but it also has wonderful previews of what the next season is bringing to the fashion world, allowing you to drool over what you want to purchase next. But what amazes me the most is the high caliber of dresses that are being offered for under $99. The selection is awesome, with over one hundred dresses to choose from that are beautifully suitable for the warm season. Usually you wouldn’t find these dresses at such an affordable price during the month of July!

I’m a big fan of cocktail dresses, because they are usually versatile enough to wear for many different occasions, and they are, for the most part, always sexy! I found a wonderful one that is perfect for an attention seeker. The color is beautiful for the summer, and will look gorgeous on freshly tanned skin. The satin fabric makes this dress look flirty, especially with the empire waist band under the bust line. I think this dress is a great length, and when it comes to $90-- it’s an awesome buy!

Draped Floral Dresses with Belt
Draped Floral Dress

$92.00
Available at: edressme.com

As for my new love for maxi dresses, I found one of these too! For a fantastic price of $92 you can get a wonderful maxi dress with a low cut back and back tie. The dress is a jungle print, with an amazing color combination. The colors blend wonderfully together. The deep purple and green are a good contrast, and really bring out some nice undertones.

Another jungle-like dress that I liked is a completely different style than the maxi-dress, but just as classy and cute. I love the way this dress drapes over the chest and has a belt to cinch the waist. Similar to the maxi dress it also has the deep purple and green colors, which are very flattering. The style of this dress is simply stunning.

There you have it! Three perfectly suitable dresses for summer under $99, now how can you beat that? Not only can you go on this site and get a trend report, but you can beat the crowds and buy the trend by visiting eDressMe.com. With unbeatable prices and styles to make you swoon, its worth putting away $99 to look this good!

FOUND: Hayden Panettiere's Fab Maxi Dress

Hayden Panettiere wearing Gypsy 05

The return of the maxi dress rages on. While maxi dresses of all types are gaining popularity, one dress in particular has been spotted on more Hollywood starlets and attention-grabbing celebutantes than any other. One such celeb fan is Heroes cutie Hayden Panettiere. Check out this recent pic of Hayden in a stunning golden yellow maxi dress.

Trend: Maxi Dresses for Day and Night

--By Kim Moshtaghi

Mossimo Maxi Dress
Mossimo Maxi Dress

$22.99
Available at: target.com

The maxi dress is back in action, and its everywhere! From celebrities to the web, you can bet you will see someone sporting the maxi dress with some sass. There is big debate about what is better, the maxi or the mini, but I’m staying out of it!All I can say is why not both? They both look phenomenal and they should both be in your closet. Aren’t you supposed to diversify your wardrobe anyway? Okay, now that we got that out of the way, let’s talk about the maxi dress.

I love the way it looks so dreamy and elegant, but it can be worn during the day and look stunning. I recently wore mine out shopping with some flip-flops and I felt like I was on vacation. Every time I see, or wear, a maxi dress my thoughts go drifting into fantasies of beautiful beach breezes and joyful walks along the beach on vacation. Or I envision myself having a margarita in Mexico. Additionally, I like the fact I can get a breeze by wearing the dress, but I don’t have to risk showing my parts, especially when it literally gets too breezy. Sorry Britney, the maxi dress wasn’t made for you!

The maxi dress doesn’t just look good on tall women; it actually makes all ladies look tall and lean. Plus, if you need some extra height, you can always wear some wedges to keep it comfortable. I wear mine with flip-flops, but I have seen them worn with some hot wedges or some cute thong heels to liven it up. There something so sexy about seeing a female in a maxi dress-- it looks so mature, yet so flirty. It makes younger women look older, but with a youthful spirit. As covered up as it can be, it is very sexy and comfortable. I guess there is truth in the saying, “less is more.”

I found some great maxi dresses for you. I will only feature a few: a couple you can wear to lunch and one you may just want to grab a cocktail in, because you don’t want to go unseen.

I found a simple maxi dress from Target, and it’s the yellow that grabbed my eye. The dress has an empire waist and will look adorable on everyone, and for $22.99 how you could you go wrong? The color will really accentuate a summer tan, and the simplicity will go a long way, keeping it easy to accessorize.

Bebe Tribal Tiered Sleeveless Maxi Dress
Bebe Tiered Maxi Dress

$129.00
Available at: bebe.com

On ShopBop.com I found an amazingly stunning maxi dress in black. This dress is drop-dead gorgeous. It has a cut-out which really makes it sexy and easily worn out at night, but can be toned down for the daytime. I love the way the leather surrounds the cut-out and makes it look extra-glitzy. This is a stunner and should be worn with a caution tag-- I just love it!

Lastly, I would like to feature a dress that’s just plain lovely. It can be worn during the day or night. In comparison to the other dresses featured it fits right in the middle. It needs some accessories to brighten it up, but the colors are what make it so flattering. The earth tones are elegant and really do a lot of people justice. The solid bodice makes it look really flattering on an athletic body, and creates an extra needed curve.

The maxi dress may not be accepted by everyone yet, but give it some time and people will come to understand the gracefulness of the maxi dress. In the meantime, keep your eyes out for one that flatters your body, with comfort in mind. Now imagine that you’re on a tropical getaway and just remember with the right maxi dress you may never have to leave your town to feel the ocean breeze.

FOUND: Gwen Stefani's Boho-Chic Maxi Dress

Gwen Stefani wearing Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent Maxi Dress
photo: people.com

Is it just me, or is half of Hollywood pregnant these days? With this weekend's addition of Angelina Jolie to the confirmed (more or less) pregnant list, we're in for a spring full of fabulous maternity fashions. Mommy-to-be Gwen Stefani-- arguably the biggest fashionista of the expecting list-- was recently spotted out and about in a flowing boho-chic maxi dress. Stunning, as always, Gwen.

As to be expected, Gwen is taking a page from the current anti-maternity clothes trend. Just like fellow expectant mom Jessica Alba, Gwen is fond of wearing forgiving "regular" clothes rather than traditional maternity wear. Want to steal Gwen Stefani's boho-chic, anti-maternity maxi dress style? No need to be with child. She's wearing the new Long Ruffle Dress from Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent.

I adore this dress on so many levels. First, and most obviously, it's quite forgiving. Whether you are with child, or with a few extra pounds, or just feeling a little bloated, this dress will glide over all of your trouble areas with ease. But, it carefully avoids that shapeless, potato sack look that is so easy to find with long dresses.

Beyond that, it's incredibly stylish and of the moment. Maxi dresses are going to be big for Spring and this dressier, 100% silk version is the kind of frock that will take you from poolside party to Sunday brunch without skipping a beat. I'd pair it with flat sandals and loose, wavy hair for an upscale bohemian vibe.
