Chic Clip Earrings: A Real Must-Have

I used to think that clip-on earrings were just for older women and people whose parents didn’t allow them to get their ears pierced, but then I learned about traumatic earlobe clefts.

About 6 months ago I noticed that my right earlobe was almost completely split… and I’m only 24! All the years of fun, trendy earrings took a heavy toll on my right earlobe. Now I have to go under the knife to get my earlobe ripped all the way and then stitched back up. So, that brings me to the clip earring. I never thought I would have to start embracing clip-ons, but I do. The nurse at the plastic surgeon's office saw my disgusted face after I was told I could no longer wear my earrings, and she suggested clip earrings as an alternative. Since I’m still a month out from the surgery, I have taken some time to hunt for cute clip-on earrings. Although, after a few months of healing, I can get my ear re-pierced, I was warned that many people go back to their old ways and have to repeat the surgery because their earlobe re-tears.

I have no choice but to learn from this experience. Even though I had the time to find some clip earrings, it wasn’t easy. Because it was so tough, I wanted to find fun clip-on earrings for all of you, so you don’t have to struggle like me. Just remember, it can happen to you. So, alternate between clip earrings and studs, and stay away from heavy earrings! Although a lot of high end costume jewelers do make a variety of stunning clip-on earrings, they can be very pricey, so I tried to find a couple steals.

I found a simple, elegant pair from Nadri at Nordstrom. The size makes them very versatile. The Nadri Pavé Crystal Bezel Clip Earrings [top left] can be worn with anything in your wardrobe, to work or out at night. The Swarovski crystals make them noticeable and shiny, making them look spectacular.

The next pair is expensive, but definitely cool and different. They look vintage, and that’s what I love about them. These Louis Vuitton brass finish 1001 Nights Earrings [right] are unique. They have the Louis Vuitton signature engraved in the flower’s center and the colors are soft and perfect for a sophisticated, yet colorful pair of earrings.

The last pair that I had to have are from a cool site that carries all kinds of clip earrings. I fell in love with these Autumn Amber Glass Leaf Mix Clip On Earrings because they’re yellow gold, which goes well with my skin color. I also like how these leaf earrings have a few dangling charms. These earrings would rock the house on anyone!

As difficult as it was to find some cute clip-on earrings, it was worth it! Like my dad always says, “learn from other people’s mistakes.” This is your opportunity to avoid the plastic surgeons office and, best of all, avoid a spending $500 on the surgery (one ear) and begin justifying the Louis Vuitton clip-on earrings.

It's great that you're sharing what you've learned. Those are all great earrings, though the LVs are too $$$.

I did a post about Nadri jewelry on ebay a few weeks ago because I totally agree, Nadri is AWESOME. They make the best looking jewelry at very affordable prices. Uusually you can find Nadri studs on ebay for less than $20. I recently got a nadri bracelet on ebay and it's the best looking bracelet I've ever had!

Many designers on etsy will gladly alter earrings for those of us who can't wear studs or hooks. I've gotten several good pair, although my favorite pair are a flea market find from a vintage costume jewelry dealer. I call them my Fancy Old Lady Earrings and everyone loves them.

Barse.com has a few nice sterling and semi-precious stone clip-ons. Jewelrytelevision.com occasionally has some, too. Thanks for the tips, everyone!
