Oh, economic downturn. It's hit this hardworking country of the American dream life a few times over the years - we always seem to push through and beyond it to reach a new level of extremes, but while it's happening, like now, times can be tough. So many people are unemployed, there are more people on public transportation, more homeless people, blah, blah blah.

While I know you're still going out to dinner and dancing at clubs, trying to hold on to the last bit of fun possible from the days of the carefree life, you're probably cutting back on some personal expenses. Are you getting your hair cut as frequently? (Little secret, I'm not, I know... don't judge me, I'm trying to grow it out!) Are you doing your own mini facials? Well if you're not at least having spa experiences in your own home, that needs to begin now. To start, you should know the rules to having a sanitary beginning, for let's say, a pedicure.

Bring out the alcohol... not the vodka or champagne, but the sanitizing kind and make sure your tools are clean as a whistle. Don't try to do your own miniature surgery and feel like you might be risking you life for a scene out of Grey's Anatomy - save those for a doc... just stick to scrubs, calluses, filing and painting your pretty piggies! This advice comes from Dr. Oliver Zong, an NYC podiatrist who does cosmetic foot surgery as the Director of Surgery at NYC Footcare. It's good to check out the pro's advice once in a while and make sure all you're doing at home is on par with what might cost you $50 these days and not even be so sanitary, that is in the pedicure world. One more piece of foot news - new polishes... OPI's Shorts Story is a fabulous pink and the bright orangey color On the Same Paige - these are must haves for the summer. Get going girls, sandal time is here!
