I’ve been having trouble sleeping in the heat. Without some guidance from a doctor and products that make sleeping effortless, I wouldn’t be smiling in the mornings.

Before I get into the fabulous products that help me keep sane during the work week, I will go over some tips that really help me keep my bedroom a great place for sleeping and a relaxing place to be. First, I decided to never let my laptop go near my bed because of the obvious distraction. If you have a lit up desktop in your room, move it now. Having a computer handy when trying to relax is too tempting, especially if you are workaholic.

Another big issue is eating before trying to sleep! Eating a big meal right before bedtime is an awful idea-- you’ll be burping up a storm, and thinking about the calories you ate. Try eating 2-3 hours before bedtime. My friend told me once, “eat breakfast with yourself, lunch with your friend, and dinner with an enemy.” It’s not just beneficial to avoid a big dinner for sleeping purposes, but it’s also much healthier.

Exercising before bed time is also a no-no! An hour before bedtime you should allow yourself to relax and wind down from the day in order to sleep like a baby. Common sense prevails when it comes to before bedtime activities. But, for those of you who, like me, who have followed the simple rules and still can’t sleep, help is a click away.

My first product is from Bath and Body Works sleep line. Bath and Body Works has an entire sleep line to aid in soothing the mind, body and soul. These products are definitely a nicer way to transition into dream land, better than counting sheep. The small Bath and Body Works 1 oz. Pillow Mist is perfect for trying the product out, and traveling with it. The spray is chamomile and lavender. The combination of both oils soothes and calms you, to help shut your eyes. To use properly and effectively, spray the mist over pillow and sheets. When fabric dries, get your booty in bed and do some breathing exercises to relax your mind and body.

Before getting into bed, perhaps while you are waiting for the mist to dry, use the Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy lotion to really enhance your sleep. The milk and honey lotion hydrates the skin, so you’ll not just sleep like a baby, but you’ll also be as soft as one.

I’m going a little backwards here… so, before the lotion and pillow mist, I highly suggest drinking some non-caffeinated Sleepytime tea. This tea with the huggable bear picture on the box is wonderful! It actually works! It doesn’t taste bad, and every sip does help me de-stress. The key ingredients are chamomile, spearmint, and West Indian lemongrass. This lovely blend makes you want to spray your pillow and rub on some lotion, so you can wake up feeling like a million bucks!
