3 Best Lip Balm Options for Winter

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

I don't know about you, but I have chronically dry lips on a good day. Throw in winter's dry air, wind and crazy temperature fluctuations and my lips look like they just got up close and personal with a cheese grater. So, I've been on the hunt for the best lip balm options for years. Finally, I've found my holy grail of lip balms: three fabulous balms that solve my dry lip issues and are pleasant, not clinical. I rotate between all three -- I just can't pick a favorite!

Scented:
Kiehl's Scented Lip Balm #1 in Coconut
Kiehl's favorite Lip Balm #1 is already coveted for its amazing lip-repairing ability; this coconut-scented version packs the same pro-lip properties and SPF 4, plus a yummy tropical scent that reminds you of sunny vacations. It's also available in vanilla, cranberry, mint, pear and mango.

Tinted:
Fresh Sugar Plum Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15
Most tinted balms look horrible on chapped lips, but this version from Fresh adds a universally flattering plummy color while soothing and smoothing even the roughest lips.

All Natural:
Korres Lip Butter
This natural choice lip balm offers super moisturization that isn't even a hint sticky, plus it's free of parabens, sulfates, petro-chemicals and all sorts of other nasty stuff. I'm in love with the clear Guava but, with 7 sheer colors to choose from (like the rose-colored Quince shown here), there's a tint for everyone.
