Slouchy Skinny Jeans: 5 Super Wearable Picks

So, you say you want the punk-chic look of skinny denim, but with the ease of your favorite boyfriend jeans? That’s not as crazy as it seems. The new slouchy skinny jeans really are the best of both worlds.

Slouchy skinny is shorthand for a jean that is slim from just above the knee to the ankle, but with a subtle slouch to the hip and upper thigh. If you picture the short lived “carrot” or “reverse” fit jean (which I love, but I was one of the few), then shrink the hip and thigh area by about a size and a half, you have the slouchy skinny.

If I had to pick one favorite characteristic of the slouchy skinny jean, it would have to be that the look is just as fashion-forward as a traditional skinny, but it vibes a tad less high-maintenance. Perfect for a casual date, lunch with the girls, or just skipping around town. And if, like me, you toil away in a super casual office, this denim trend can also go to work.

So, now that you are totally sold on trying on this new denim look, where do you start? I’ve pulled five of my favorite pair of slouchy skinnies.

My top pick (this week at least) is this pair of dark, distressed Paige jeans. The darker color makes this pair particularly versatile because it can go out at night or to work a little easier than a lighter or more distressed pair.

A close second place is this much more casual pair of Rag&Bone/JEAN Dash Slouchy Skinny Jeans. I can attest to the fact that what looks like precarious distressing on Rag&Bone jeans is actually quite well reinforced. I’m not saying you’re in the clear to throw these jeans in the heavy duty cycle of your washing machine, or purposefully strain the rips, but they are more durable than they appear. And they’re fabulous.

Continuing on in no particular order, I’m kind of digging these Adriano Goldschmied cropped jeans. They are on the far casual side of the fashion situation spectrum, but that works for spring. Being a California girl, I’d wear them with a tank top and flip flops on the weekend.

The Monroe Skinny Jean from NSF has an unconventional silhouette that isn’t for everyone. But, this cut would create a very high fashion look on a woman with a more “ruler” shaped figure.

It’s just not spring until you’ve purchased a new pair of white jeans, so why not do double duty by snagging this pair of slouchy skinny distressed white jeans?
