Girl Talk: Must-Have Beauty Tools

Wednesday, June 11, 2008

If beauty products are the icing on the cake, must-have beauty tools are the flour in the cake batter. You know, the stuff that holds it all together. So what beauty tools are makeup bag must-haves? Here's what the Stiletto Jungle girls had to say:

Tweezerman Petite Tweezer Set

$25.00
Available at: sephora.com

"As I browsed tweezers at Sephora recently, I noticed that they cost much more (unsurprisingly) than the ones that I was used to from drug stores. Because of the cost, I decided on a combo mini-tweezer set, which made me feel a little better for what I was paying, since I was getting two tweezers for the price of about one of the regular size tweezers. I am very pleased with the quality of the tools, and the size of the tweezers has made absolutely no difference to the performance. Buying these tweezers just reminds me that quality comes at a price; I highly recommend this to anyone looking for tweezers."

"My favorite beauty tool, the one that I think every women should own and be told about, is the Tweezerman Skin Care Tool. It is so amazing! It gets those annoying blackheads and whiteheads out without a leaving a huge red mark on your face for days-- like we all get when we use our fingers. If I see a friend with a big red mark, pimple, whitehead, or blackhead still intact I have to tell them about this amazing tool. It works so well there is no evidence left that there was every a blemish there."

"Hmmm tools... I love my Shu Uemura eyelash curler. I don't go one day without using it. I have the newer version, and it's just indispensable. It gives the perfect curl, has the perfect padding and goes with me everywhere.

I also just bought this straightening iron called the Hai Stik and it's great. Really compact, heats up pretty fast and is relatively inexpensive in comparison to other irons. My hair isn't super hard to straighten, so I'm not sure how it would stand up to very stubborn hair, but I'm loving the Stik. It gets the job done!"

MAC Contour Brush

"My top beauty tools are my make-up brushes. Seriously, I could go cheap on anything but those! I have all my brushes from MAC - they are the best brushes I have ever tried. They feel soft and the contour brush has a great shape and feel. I think that with the MAC brushes anyone can do make-up. I was introduced to them a few years ago and I just love them.

I have tried buying cheaper brushes for blush and just couldn't do it, the brushes were awful. They were scratchy and seemed to collect and hold anything you put on them. I would highly recommend to every woman, invest in a great set of make-up brushes. They make all the difference in the world."
