Eyeglasses have gone from Steve Urkel dorky to Jenna Jameson sexy in a decade. Why the change? The school girl and secretary fantasies have set the stage for sexiness, and many times just some plain sophistication. Glasses create a classy polished look, and that’s what gave me the desire to start wearing prescription glasses to see how people treated me differently. It was a fun adventure and men loved it! I felt like guys were asking me to dinner as opposed to drinks. I’m not promoting glasses for sexual fantasy reasons, but merely giving confidence to those who feel like wearing contacts daily is the only way to go.

As alluring and sophisticated as glasses can be, you must choose wisely to get the full effect. Knowing your facial structure is the first step to picking out some magnificent designer eyeglasses. It is important to get the appropriate glasses for your face, and like most fashion accessories you purchase, keep your skin tone in mind when purchasing killer frames. Also, remember that wearing the right eye make up underneath glasses at night is very important. It is crucial to make sure to pencil in the eyebrows and accentuate those sassy lashes in order to avoid looking frumpy.

It was love at first sight when it came to these gorgeous Bvlgari glasses. They come in wine, purple and black-- the wine is stunning. These glasses are very bold and require a non-timid diva to flaunt them properly. With chunky rectangular frames and a delicate, feminine crystal flower on the side, these glasses look edgy and appropriate for the lady who inspires to be rockin’ harder and louder than most.

These next designer glasses are simple and elegant. Valentino did a great job constructing this sophisticated Black Crystal design. These are almost half the price of the Bvlgari glasses, making them more wallet-friendly and a more serious appeal.

My personal favorite is Roberto Cavalli’s brown pearl RC Satiro glasses. I adore this pair because of my deep love for and fascination with all accessories that incorporate, or are inspired by snakes. I think these glasses are definitely not for everyday wear, but they are fun and different. I like the brown pearl alongside the snake on the side. The color and metal combination compliment each other well.

As much as Ugly Betty supports the fact that glasses can go horribly wrong, giving you an unpolished disastrous look, there are also celebrities such as Lisa Loeb who prove glasses can give a high powered edge that implies control and confidence.
