Simple

Hip

Elegant

Ageless

Trendy

Harmony

As I laid out these words to describe the sheath dress, I almost felt like I was contradicting myself. Can something really be elegant and trendy? Simple and hip? Well, believe it or not, this dress fits into all of those categories.

The sheath dress has become trendy and hip thanks to First Lady Michelle Obama (her signature style) and the highly rated series Mad Men. Stores are now packed with them in every color and fabric imaginable.

But even when dressing presidential is out and Mad Men has been replaced by a new series that we can’t wait to emulate the styles, sheath dresses will still be in style. You might not find them in every color and fabric but I guarantee you the basic black sheath dress will still be available, it is ageless.

Too conservative for you? Think of the sheath dress as a canvas for your creativity. The beauty of this dress is that it is simple and it can add a harmony to your wardrobe that is consistent with your personality and style. Funk it up with textured hose and boots or keep it elegant by adding a single string of pearls and wearing it with low heel pumps. Watch the video for more ways to wear the sheath dress.

Now go add a sheath dress or two to your wardrobe. It is a staple that every well dressed woman should have in her wardrobe regardless of her style and that’s NOT a contradiction.
