Floral print is usually associated with warm weather, but there is nothing like being prepared for spring before the season hits. Plus, you can create warmth by layering spring items with cardigans and leggings. I was never a floral gal 'til a couple years ago when I realized the femininity of floral print. There are so many fashion designers who have embraced floral fashion in their designs. It reminds me of '50s glamour-- times when things were all about delicacy after the trouser days. I have found some great items that give floral a much-needed modern touch. Here comes flower overload…

I think silk and floral is such a sexy combination, and Diane von Furstenberg has brought it to my attention. She has taken the flirtiest fabric and mixed with a girly print, coming up with the Syrah Silk Georgette Top. This particular blouse has a sophisticated design incorporated with a girly colorful flower print. The blouse has a lot of little details that give off a spunky vibe that I find really attractive on women. If you think you can’t resist, preorder this blouse at Saks Fifth Avenue ASAP.

If Diane von Furstenberg has come on too strong with the silk and floral, I recommend checking out the Rosehip Tea Dress at Lulu's. It’s less powerful, but still remains loved by me. This is definitely a modern spin on a '50s look. This cutesy tea dress is also a colorful flower print on a beige background, along with a beige belt to accentuate the waist, polished off with short ruffled sleeves and a slight hint of shimmer finishing off this floral delight. The short length of the dress contributes to the modern flair, in addition to the casual nature of the dress. But, it comes with the '50s attitude, and a desire to frolic through a garden and drink tea, hence the name.

And at last, who wouldn’t want a floral jersey top with a tantalizingly deep cowl back? Hello Sexy! The black and white Print Draped Back Top from Rachel Pally is anything but simple. Don’t let the sophisticated color combo fool you, or the even more deceitful, good girl front of the jersey top. Embrace this playful look by wearing it with some tight jeans and sassy stilettos. If that makes you yawn, pair it with some playful leggings and wear sky high shoes and you will be far from simple.
