The Social Shopping App You’ve Been Waiting for Is Here!

Friday, August 09, 2013

Have you browsed the dearth of shopping apps on the market just to find yourself asking, “yeah, this is pretty and all, but what’s in it for me?” If so, I’ve found the shopping app you’ve been waiting for.

Business operations software powerhouse SAP just launched their My Runway social shopping app. This free downloadable app lets you save fashion items to your shopping list, monitor favorite labels and retailers, track sales, get personalized shopping updates, and share your selections with friends. But, the difference is all in the maker…

SAP is the undisputed market leader in business operations software – that’s tech-speak for the systems that keep track of inventory and manage the sales process. SAP knows fashion retail, and their software helps to manage some of the biggest names in online retail, like Gap, Inc. and Nordstrom.

Which brings me to what’s in it for you. Not only does My Runway offer all of the standard functionality you’ve come to expect from social shopping apps, it offers you a direct line to the retailers selling the wares you covet. You gather “points” by using the app to track and share you shopping finds, and connect with friends. The more you use the app, the more points you accumulate, demonstrating your influencer status.

As your favorite retailers – many of whom happen to use SAP products – see your influencer status grow, they have the ability to offer you 1:1 promotions and offers based on your status. Finally, you can get rewarded for being the dedicated brand fan that you are!

You know you’re itching to check it out. Get more info and download the My Runway app for free here: www.myrunwayapp.com

Join me at the My Runway Fashion + Tech Meetup on 8/15 in San Francisco or via Live Webcast!

To kick off My Runway app’s shiny bright future right, SAP is hosting a Fashion + Tech Meetup in San Francisco, and I'll be one of the featured speakers!

Ingredients of a successful shopping app - SAP, My Runway, Art Institute of California

I’ll be speaking on a panel discussing the ingredients for a fabulous shopping app, along with America’s Next Top Model Cycle 4 winner Naima Mora, Silicon Valley tech personality Sarah Austin of Pop17, and super in-the-know tech execs from Levi’s and SAP. The panel will be moderated by SAP's Layla Sabourian. The details:

5:30: Hors d'oeuvre and Networking

5:45: Welcome & Introductions

6:00: Social Contest

6:15: Panel Discussion

7:30: Fashion Show

8:00: Exclusive book signing by Naima Mora

We’ll be talking about what’s already happening in the Fashion + Tech arena, from Kate Spade mobile cases to Swarovski’s crystal 4GB USB drives, plus where we see the intersection of fashion and technology heading in the future. Panelist Li Gong, the VP of Product and Head of My Runway at SAP, has this to say about our upcoming event:
“This panel is a great opportunity to bring together representatives of fashion and technology and I’m very excited to participate on behalf of SAP. We’ve put a lot of thought behind My Runway and are excited to talk about how this new social shopping app will help fashion enthusiasts connect with the brands they love and shop online and in stores.”
