7 Ultra Chic Fringe Shoes for Spring

Tuesday, March 17, 2015

When you hear “fringe shoes trend” what pops into your head? If your past experience with fringed footwear is anything like mine your mind goes straight to a pair of 1970s-style Minnetonka moccasins. Cozy, yes, but not exactly high style.

This spring’s fringe shoes trend is, refreshingly, much more creative than the fashion word association games I play with myself. Labels from Steve Madden to Prada have found ways to make fringe feel high fashion this season. These are the kind of fringe shoes you can pull on with a pair of skinny jeans and a tee to create an insta-look that will turn heads without vibing trend-obsessed.

I’ve picked a handful of my favorites from my preferred online shoe departments: Nordstrom and Saks. All of these shoes ship free. Let me know what you think…

How do you make fringe look sleek and uptown? Just ask Stuart Weitzman. These fringed sandals are perfection, and also available in black suede.

Stuart Weitzman Lovefringe Suede Sandal

The relatively low 2.75” heel on these modern sandals mean they’ll be a go-to all summer long. The combination of pale grey leather and gold metal details feels fresh and modern. It’s a match made in shoe heaven.

Chloe Leather Fringe Sandals

→ Buy the Chloe Leather Fringe Sandals, $795.00, at saks.com.

Shockingly, you don’t have to drop a paycheck to score the season’s sleek fringe shoe trend. Thanks to Nordie’s new price matching policy, these sandals are a steal. They’re available in taupe, blue, and black suede.

Steve Madden Fringly Sandal

→ Buy the Steve Madden Fringly Sandal, $103.20 (was $129.95), at nordstrom.com.

I’ve taken to wearing flats at work most days, so I’m always hunting for standout styles that don’t feel like a sad riff on ballet flats. These fringe wrapped skimmers, available in putty and black, are unique and gorgeous. I’ll take ‘em.

Rebecca Minkoff Faith Ankle Strap Skimmer

→ Buy the Rebecca Minkoff Faith Ankle Strap Skimmer, $150.75 (was $225.00), at nordstrom.com.

This pretty pale blue-grey “Heron” shade makes for a decidedly feminine take on fringe. This casual sandal is also available in black, chestnut, and stone, but the more neutral shades don’t pack quite the same punch.

Koolaburra Piaz II Fringed Boot Cuff Sandal

→ Buy the Koolaburra Piaz II Fringed Boot Cuff Sandal, $179.95, at nordstrom.com.

Of course Prada has its own version of the fringe shoe. The chunky heel and silver buckle feel somehow western-influenced, but not overtly so. These would look great with shorts and a lightweight, slouchy sweater on vacation this summer.

Prada Suede Fringe Sandals

→ Buy the Prada Suede Fringe Sandals, $950.00, at saks.com.

These Vince Camuto sandals are one part Stuart Weitzman and one part Prada, with a strong casual filter. I’m thinking boyfriend jeans at a tank top on the weekend.

Vince Camuto Trumen Fringe Sandal

→ Buy the Vince Camuto Trumen Fringe Sandal, $138.95, at nordstrom.com.
