I'd been eyeing these chic boots for most of the year -- ever since they were spotted on Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry and Rachel Bilson practically all in the same week. Seeing the way fashionistas with three such distinct styles wore them made me instantly crave my own chance. But, I put off my purchase. Did I really need a new pair of black boots?
Um, yes. I used an outdoor winter wedding as a perfect excuse for a late-winter purchase. Such a fantastic idea. These really are the most perfect ever over-the-knee boots. I chose the classic Black Nappa leather. The foot and front of the boots are crafted from butter-soft black leather. The soles are non-skid, logo rubber. But, the back is the genius part. It's made from a high quality stretch fabric that reminds me of neoprene and is definitely waterproof -- I found out by accident when I stepped in a 3" puddle the first day I wore them and almost had a heart attack.
The stretch back means that these boots fit a pretty wide range of calf sizes. I have calves of the "athletic" variety, thanks to spending most of my formative years as a cheerleader. It's very tricky to find boots that fit properly, but these boots fit like a charm, even over jeans. And, I've found they're practically made for transforming J.Crew's cropped Minnie stretch cropped pants into cold weather-appropriate pants. Love. So, so worth the investment.
