5 Un-Frumpy Long Shorts for Summer

Tuesday, July 15, 2014

Once upon a time I was really into short shorts. It was the late ‘90s and I was in my early 20s. I assume there is no need to explain. Times, they change.

Now that I live in the San Francisco area there aren’t many days that are warm enough to even make a person think about wearing shorts. But, on those rare days, I reach for my personal holy grail of nearly knee-length slouchy Theory shorts. They are amazing because they are long enough to cover the bits that you want covered, but without making you look like you have the style of a suburban schoolmarm.

So, with that amazing pair of shorts in mind, I set out to find five more pair that similarly manage to cover well without sacrificing style. I think I did quite well.

These softly pleated viscose shorts remind me most of my own beloved shorts. They look great with heels and a dressier shirt, as styled here. But, they’d also look amazing with a vintage fit white tee and flat sandals.
