Plaid is back, and it’s stronger than ever. You can overload on it, but it can be pretty darn sexy if done just right. Alicia Silverstone showed us her softer side with her multiple plaid outfits in the famous movie Clueless. Burberry has always remained faithful to classic plaid. Men everywhere fantasize about the school girl look. So, why not join in on the fun?

Plaid can be very eye-straining, so I prefer the softer, lighter plaid. Something about plaid is intellectual and mysterious at the same time. Every time I wear my Burberry headband it gives me an instant sexy-preppy feel. If you’re not ready to empty your wallet on Burberry, but you’re ready for something different, expand your fashion horizons and check out a few of my finds.

There is some uber-funky plaid in the fashion world that I can’t begin to digest, so I went looking for the softer side of plaid. I found this beautiful, soft and elegant Nic + Zoe Plaid Knit Coat at Nordstrom.com. This coat is so classy and it’s got all the right ingredients for a timeless coat. It’s simple, but unique with its wide collar and off-set button. This coat will keep on giving year after year.

My next choice is great for the transition between summer and fall, and keeps fashion comfortable. This Silk Plaid-Print Sheath Dress from Banana Republic is adorable! With a conservative look and flattering colors, there is no doubt you will look fab! Like the description says, “it’s work appropriate,” which makes the price tag very justifiable. With a slight cinch around the waist this dress is very deserving and should be welcomed to many wardrobes a.s.a.p.

My last pick incorporates two fashion trends-- plaid and ruffles-- into one top. This cute lavender Plaid Ruffle Halter from Arden B. would look great with a pencil skirt or under a jacket with the ruffles visible. It’s a little sheer, so it exudes a lot of sexiness.

There you have it, plaid in a variety of forms. All you need is a great attitude to go with it!
