My Spring It facial hair removal tool
Women have been on a quest to trim, sculpt and sometimes completely remove their body hair since practically the beginning of time. From seriously old school techniques like threading and sugaring, to super high-tech epilation devices and chemical cocktails that melt skin where it grows, we've managed to discover about a million and one ways to tame the hairy beast that is... well... us. So, do we really need yet another way to remove facial hair?

Perhaps, yes. For the majority of ladies, waxing is the removal technique of choice for errant facial hair. It's simple, quick, effective and affordable. So, why try anything else? One word: retinol. Once you jump on the retinol bandwagon-- and it's a great bandwagon to be on-- waxing facial hair becomes a real big no-no. That is, unless you love red, painful, oozing skin. I was knee deep in the retinol-waxing conundrum when I was approached by the team behind My Spring It to try out their new facial hair removal tool. Perhaps it was fate?

My Spring It is a tool that removes hair at the root, much like tweezing, but with the efficiency of waxing. The single spring acts like a very small manual epilator. You twist the spring while pulsing the ends of the coil to efficiently remove a path of facial hairs-- even the tiniest ones-- all at once. No sticky waxes to irritate skin, no scary chemicals and no trips to the salon for threading adventures.

I'll be the first to admit, it takes some time to figure out how to use My Spring It. Even after watching the instructional video a couple times, it still took me a good 10 minutes to get the hang of the simultaneous twisting and pulsing necessary to move My Spring It into action. And 10 minutes is a long time to be sitting in front of the bathroom mirror trying to remove facial hair. I was nearly ready to give up when I finally just suddenly "got" the movement required. And then it was magic.

Turns out that My Spring It is kind of fabulous. It's quick and relatively painless (c'mon, we are talking about facial hair removal here). My Spring It removes even tiny hairs just as well as my favorite pricey Bliss Poetic Waxing Kit, but in a completely retinol-safe way. Afterwards, my skin wasn't nearly as agitated as it would be after waxing. The pain of figuring out how to use My Spring It was well worth it.

I highly recommend My Spring It to any of you who are looking for efficient facial hair removal that can be accomplished in the privacy of your bathroom, is incredibly affordable and is safe for use with retinol skin products. Be prepared, it will take you some time to figure out how to use the device, but stick with it. If I can figure it out, so can you.
