The crop top is all over social media right now and I know we all secretly want to wear one, regardless of whether we think we physically look good in one. I have to admit that wearing a crop top is one of my biggest fashion fears. I have bought three total over the years and they all still have their tags attached. I hope this article will force me to face my crop top fears and convince others to baby step into wearing one.

I love the way crop tops look on others, and I have bought them because I really believe crop tops exude a casual sexiness that many clothing pieces can’t manage to master. You don't need abs of steel to take advantage of this belly-baring, alluring, fashionable look. It enables you to wear your high-waist pants with some spunk, and it also adds flavor to an otherwise boring work skirt by showing some skin.

As a beginner, I recommend starting with a crop top that is looser so you don’t feel self-conscious. Wear it with a long skirt or ripped denim to stay consistent with the carefree vibe. So, let’s start with a black halter neck crop top? It’s simple, extremely casual, and will be an easy way to start wearing this trend. Get some breeze and bare a little belly while summer strolling.

Zara Halter Neck Crop Top

→ Buy the Zara Halter Neck Crop Top, $19.99 (was $29.99), at zara.com.

This next feature is conservative and simple, but will still make a nice statement. Wearing this implies you’re trendy, but under your own terms. I love the way it is pictured but it will go well with anything. Also it will look nice with hair up and some statement earrings. The little middle knot and the fact that it is long sleeved is impactful and differentiates it from the rest.

Do you love the trend, but feel like you are too flat chested to pull off this look? You are totally wrong! Wearing something with ruffles always adds to the top and it will look gorgeous with that floral skirt you never wear. If you are petite then this is a great choice because not everyone can pull of this flirty camisole crop top and it will pair well with all summer styles.

Bebe Ruffle Surplice Crop Cami

→ Buy the Bebe Ruffle Surplice Crop Cami, $29.00 - $59.00, at bebe.com.

Transitioning from ruffles into fringe seems to be a natural, smooth one. This white crop top is a simple scoop neck with mucho flair. It exudes a free spirited attitude. This is nice for a beach day or for an evening of dancing. It’s a golden look when paired with a suitable, summery bottom.

BCBGMAXAZRIA Jaleigh Fringe Crop Top

→ Buy the BCBGMAXAZRIA Jaleigh Fringe Crop Top, $118.00 (was $198.00), at bcbg.com.
