SJ Interview: Dawn Del Russo Schools Us In Style

101 Glam Girl Ways to an Ultra Chic Lifestyle: A Cheeky Book with Tidbits of Advice for a Glamorous Lifestyle
101 Glam Girl Ways
to an Ultra Chic Lifestyle

$14.99
Available at: amazon.com

It's not everyday we get the insider's perspective on shopping, styling and celebrity moments, but today, we're lucky. Stiletto Jungle welcomes Dawn Del Russo to our blogspace to give us her expert point-of-view. Del Russo is a fashion stylist and owner of Belladawn.com, an online boutique fit for in person shopping from the comfort of your ergonomic chair in the office...or in bed, we won't tell! Del Russo is here to chat about her new style book, 101 Glam Girl Ways to an Ultra Chic Lifestyle as well as share some personal experience. Listen up shoppers!

SJ: Hi Dawn, thank you so much for joining us here at Stiletto Jungle for a quick chat! We're so excited to give you coverage of your new pocket-sized fashion and beauty guide! How long have you been passionate about styling?

Dawn: Having a passion has been instilled in me since I was a child. I always enjoyed experimenting with clothing on myself and friends, as I grew older, I knew it was a world I wanted to be apart of. I love helping clients find items they love and feel good in as well as seeing them with a new sense of confidence. I like knowing I can enhance a person's lifestyle through their clothing.

SJ: How did you take your love for styling to the next level of making it your business and becoming an expert?

Dawn: My father and mother own their own businesses. Being around that environment at a young age inspired me to do the same and go into business for myself. I obtained my B.S. in Business Management and studied Fashion Merchandizing at Parsons. After college I started my business plan, did my research to prepare myself, found a good location. I started working with my customers as they came in to shop I would help style them and give advice. I was lucky to grow my styling business out of a few high-end clients. As I had the opportunity to work on photo shoots, each new project led to more business for me. Now that I have completed my book
101 Glam Girl Ways to an Ultra Chic Lifestyle it has given me the opportunity to put all the styling tips I have, neatly into a cute book for anyone to read.

SJ:What are some challenges you face in dressing celebrities?

Dawn: I have had the opportunity to work with a few rising stars and one of the greatest challenges is not changing who they are. Managers and agents like to step in and direct what clothing, accessories etc. look best, but that is not always who the person is. I like to work with what they like and build on that. This builds a lasting relationship between us, and they trust my choices.

SJ: Can you tell us more about creating the perfect first date ensemble?

Dawn: Putting together the perfect first date outfit can be tricky, not looking like you tried to hard, but also looking like you did try. I like to keep it simple and show your personality. If it is a causal date like the movies, or a local bar, go for a pair of straight-leg, dark washed denim, a silky top with a detailed jacket. If the first date seems to be a bit more dressy, there are tons of great cotton dresses that flatter your shape, add some accessories like a bold watch and chunky necklace, and you are good to go.

SJ: What are your top trendy picks for Fall that are key pieces to add to an already solid wardrobe?

Dawn: I'd say if you are more of a risk taking type of girl go for a perfectly fitted, leather vest with studded or ruffle detail. If you are more classic try an embellished blazer with crystal or sequin detail on the lapel.

SJ: What is your personal style?

Dawn: I like to chance up my personal style from time to time, but I do like a bit more dressed up look. I always have heels on (I'm a sucker for Louboutin's) I adore cute print dresses, and love adding a city chic edge with a cropped leather jacket or detailed vest.

SJ: What are your worst style nightmare?

Dawn: Not having a tailor available to fix an item, they are the ones who come in and make a dress fit like a glove and look gorgeous. Second is when items don't arrive in on time, I have literally waited for UPS and Fed Ex to arrive hours before I needed an item, it is the worst feeling.

SJ: Who's your favorite stiletto designer?

Dawn: I have to say of course Christian Louboutin it seems I have started collecting these shoes, they just feel good, and fit right. Plus they are a necessity and work wonders for a 5'2" girl in an industry of 6' tall models.
Be sure to check out Dawn's website at Belladawn.com and see her book on Amazon.com!

Fall to Winter: Fashionable Gloves

Thursday, October 29, 2009 • Permalink •

--By Kim Moshtaghi

Nordstrom Pleated Cuff Leather Gloves
Nordstrom Pleated Leather Gloves

$68.00
Available at: nordstrom.com

Wearing gloves doesn’t come to mind in San Diego... until it’s too late. It often becomes difficult to buy a nice fashion-conscious pair when under pressure. Lately, I’ve learned to keep my eye out for fun pairs of gloves in order to avoid the numb fingers. Personally, I dislike the fingerless gloves-- I don’t get the point, unless you’re a rock star and have a one of a kind manicure to show off. But, isn’t the point to keep the fingers warm? Many things are done for the sake of fashion, but the main purpose of gloves is to keep warm.

There are all kinds of textures and materials when it comes to winter gloves, so it’s important to keep in mind what suits your lifestyle. Rayon and acrylic are more casual and can be worn in the snow. If you are getting them for skiing or snowboarding, you may want to think durability and warmth. For straight up fashion purposes I would get close to leather gloves. Leather is a clean and sophisticated look. It goes well with everything, and wears beautifully getting comfier with time. Whatever you choose, let it make a statement and warm up the fingers avoiding further complications, such as a runny nose.

On another note, color choice can be crucial when purchasing gloves. Make sure you buy a pair that will go with your existing wardrobe. Don’t buy hot pink gloves if you already have vibrant trench coats. If your wardrobe consists of all black, try a risqué bold color to finish off your look with a splash of sass. But, if you’re the girl with the bright trench coats, stick to black, gray or earth tones.

Women: Leather driving gloves - Irish green
Leather Driving Gloves

$69.50
Available at: bananarepublic.com

Enough with the rules, lets get to the gloves… the first is from Liz Claiborne. It’s actually a scarf and glove set-- the Scarf and Long Gloves Set in Herringbone Eternity. This is a casual fun duo. The gloves and scarf are a perfect “get up and go” set that will go with the season's laid back attire. This is my favorite casual set because the gloves extend beyond the wrists. The gloves' solid black color and the herringbone pattern beyond the wrists make it extra stylish and easy to work with. The scarf also has a solid black trim with the herringbone pattern. Worn simultaneously or not, this pair will adapt to any other texture to insure style and warmth-- goal accomplished!

For the girl who has everything, I would go for the clean-cut Pleated Cuff Leather Gloves from Nordstrom. Elegant in every sense of the word, this pair will keep you humble while being Ivanka Trump like. Surprisingly, they don’t come in a bad color! They're offered in black, burnt sienna, and pine brown. All three are equally as charming. If you’ve got bright colors for the fall, this may be the pair that balances out your look!

Lastly, for the girl who believes in a dark fall/winter wardrobe, I propose a trendier colorful pair of gloves. Banana Republic’s Leather Driving Gloves in mystic purple or Irish green will loosen your ponytail a bit. You can’t be uptight in these hip gloves. Add flavor to your look with a splash of leather spunk, and you’ll be more alive and alert to face cool conditions.

FOUND: Ashley Tisdale's Simple Black Dress

Ashley Tisdale wearing Free People Love City Ponte Dress
Free People Love City Dress

$108.00
Available at: freepeople.com

I was watching a random show about celebrity plastic surgery gone right over the weekend. Yes, I fall prey to trashy tv on my days off. Doesn't everyone? Anyway, while discussing Ashley Tisdale's fairly fabulous nose job, the narrator commented on how Ashley has been stuck in the shadow of Zac and Vanessa because of the High School Musical craze. I can't believe it.

I've never seen a single HSM-- seriously, I'd totally admit to it if I had-- so all I have to go on is what I see in the glossies and gossip sites. I have to say, I think Ashley holds her own just fine in the fashion category. She always looks put together and on-trend, and somehow both age appropriate and ageless at the same time. I'd wear most of her picks without thinking twice, but I don't feel like she dresses to old for her age at all. Now that's some sartorial skill.

A perfect example of Ashley's fashion prowess is this chic, day-appropriate little black dress. Love it. Want to steal Ashley Tisdale's little black dress style for yourself? She's wearing the very affordable Love City Dress from Free People. Simple. Sleek. Not the least bit overdone. This is a dress that any fashionista can get behind.

New MTV Reality Show Follows Celeb Stylists

Wednesday, October 28, 2009 • Permalink •

--By Jules Newmark

How is your style lately? With all the shows and stylists in the world really getting out there and exposing all their talents I would hope it's amazing, or at least not raring the ugly teeth of the '90s! You better believe that MTV has their finger on the cool dial as they are launching a new reality show called "STYL'D" which will premiere on Sunday, November 1st at 10pm ET/PT.

The synopsis? Well it's a "reality" show...so whatever that means, five junior stylists will work for a series of senior stylists for the Margaret Maldonado Agency to hopefully gain a position at the big agency themselves. The young stylists are set to work on stars such as Kim Kardashian, Nicole Richie and Ashley Tisdale while backstabbing fellow co-workers when needed and delving into the personal lives of the five stylists.

One of Maldonado's top stylists, Jen Rade, plays herself on the show and shows the minions a thing or two with her extensive experience - other stylists are Eric Archibald and Julie Weiss...I'm excited to see the relationship between the frustrated stylists in the industry with loads of experience coming eye-to-eye with the know-it-all junior stylists who are sure to be opinionated and ready to share! The cast on the junior side is Gary, Tara, Janna, Brett and Cody - nice to see some guys in there, I'm sure it will be the cause of one or two male vs. female battles! Check out this clip of the show for a sneak peak:

Head on over to Styld.mtv.com to get some fashion tips so you're in the know...at least when you're out and about after you see the show!

New & Hot: Velvet Gwenneth Sequin Top

Velvet by Graham & Spencer Gwenneth Sequin Knit Top
Velvet Gwenneth Sequin Top

$152.00
Available at: nordstrom.com

A perfect night out ensemble doesn't need to resort to short, tight or some combination of the two to be appealing. Drapey fabrics with a bit of shine can vibe just as ready-to-party, but with a more fashionista spin. I've always been a fan. And I'm loving this new blouse, which has both drape and shine and is just right for pairing with fall's omnipresent black leggings for a new night-out silhouette.

The Velvet by Graham & Spencer "Gwenneth" Sequin Knit Top features angled sequin panels across the shoulders, which anchor figure-flattering draping and meet to form a deep-v. The overall look? Sexy, but without being overt or over the top. I'd pair with aforementioned leggings and some really fabulous super high heels. Add a clutch, and you're ready to go.

FOUND: Blake Lively's Boyfriend Jacket

Blake Lively wearing SMYTHE Tweed Slouchy Boyfriend Blazer
Smythe Tweed Boyfriend Blazer

$550.00
Available at: shopbop.com

If you were one of the doubters who thought that the boyfriend jacket was going to be one of those here today, gone tomorrow early fall fads, looks like you had it all wrong. Not only is the boyfriend jacket still here, it has morphed beyond the basic black we saw late summer to take on subtle new shapes and textures. It looks like this is one fad that will have a little more staying power than we first realized.

A great example of a new take on the nouveau-classic boyfriend jacket is this recent look from Gossip Girl's Blake Lively. Blake was spotted at the after-party for Penn Badgley's new movie The Stepfather sporting a longer, tweedier, rolled-cuff version of the boyfriend jacket. Perfect for spicing up your jacket wardrobe, this new jacket can only be described as dorky-chic.

Want to steal Blake Lively's boyfriend jacket style for yourself? She's wearing the new Smythe Tweed Slouchy Boyfriend Blazer. This wool / hemp blend tweed jacket looks just like something you'd steal from your great uncle's closet with its vaguely retro look and masculine tailoring, both hallmarks of the outerwear-dedicated Smythe label. The overall look is kept from the too-mannish category by the delicate charmeuse lining that shows with casually rolled-up sleeves.

Steal: The Limited Leopard Skinny Belt $24.50

Thursday, October 22, 2009 • Permalink •

The Limited Leopard Skinny Belt
Leopard Skinny Belt

$24.50
Available at: thelimited.com

I'm a big believer in the power of a fabulous belt. A pair of jeans and a simple white button down shirt becomes an outfit with the addition of a great belt to pull it all together. And changing the belt can change the whole ensemble. A sleek black belt is classic; a funky studded belt adds a dose of attitude. You get the picture.

So, needless to say, I advocate a well-developed belt wardrobe. But, here's a shocker for all of you regular readers-- despite my love of luxe clothing and accessories, I flat refuse to pay more than $40 for a belt. Why? Because you can find stunning belts that are very inexpensive and it's nearly impossible to tell a cheap belt from its more expensive cousins. Like this recent find...

The Leopard Skinny Belt from mall staple store The Limited is a mere $24.50, but is indistinguishable from pricier calf hair versions. Pulled through the belt loops of your favorite black pants, or cinched over a simple cardigan, this belt will add a touch of fun to any look. Fab, right?

Cameo Appearance Zip Sleeve Top
Cameo Zip Sleeve Top

$37.90 (was $58-- save 35%!)

Usually when you talk about a top that costs less than $40, you're talking about a basic tee or a standard cheapie store find. Neither is the case here. This super sale find from Nordstrom.com paints an edgy, perfectly fall picture without busting your budget.

The Cameo Appearance Zip Sleeve Top features a two-way zipper that extends from the neckline to the cuffs, allowing for a custom look and fit, and a punky vibe. The abstract snakeskin print adds to the effect and is right in line with both Fall 2009 and Spring 2010 trends.

I'd pair this printed top with skinny black pants for an easygoing night out ensemble, or a pencil skirt and bootie pumps for a dressier look. The blouse could also be made casual office appropriate with the addition of a blazer. Lots of options, but a very small price.

Labellush.com is a great bargain shopping site to keep an eye on. With over 40 designer brands to choose from, you can bet on getting a slam dunk deal. Their slogan is: “Designer labels. Discount prices.” Supporting the slogan, I found a few things in my size that were more than 50% off! Labellush.com does this by having their buyers work diligently, scouting the country to get the best designer items from department stores and boutiques.

The only downfall for the seasonal snobs is that the products are usually previous season items or overstocked merchandise. But, hey, a nice black dress is great for any season. Point being, I would constantly check the site for updated inventory and grab something that you may have loved, but didn’t want to purchase at full price. After all, sometimes love for fashion items stops at a certain price-- everyone’s got their limit! Most of the items go out of stock quickly and only come in one or two sizes. The site is very user-friendly and has large selection-- everything from Gucci Wedges to a Miu Miu black ruched dress. I found three spectacular items that blew my mind when I saw how well priced and wearable they were for the current season.

Seven For All Mankind High Waisted Tahoe Jeans
7 For All Mankind Tahoe Jeans

$119.99 (was $260-- save 54%!)
Available at: labellush.com

Elie Tahari gets mysterious with the 100% silk Black Beaded Faux-Wrap Dress. The dress has a v-neckline that resembles a wrap dress, and the bottom half is hammered silk. The texture change gives the dress a nice contrast. This dress comes with a beaded tie at the waist that goes well, but can also be replaced with a red silk tie to liven it up for the holidays. If you are a size 10, you may want to invest in this dress because it will give you a return.

Continuing with charming silk, I adore the Nanette Lepore Black Silk Love Triangle Top. The off-one-shoulder top is very sexy and holds a lot of attention. This top would look wonderful with a tight pair of jeans or leggings. It really accentuates the beauty of women’s neck and shoulders. All you need is a nice chunky cuff on one wrist and a rockin’ blinged out clutch, and you will be all set for the current season.

Every fall I just want to bring out the high-waisted denim. Don’t ask me why, it just works! It makes you look taller and slimmer-- hello!-- are you seriously going to question that? Seven for All Mankind’s High Waisted Tahoe Jeans usually run for $260, but if you are a size 25 you can get a pair for $119.99!

Check out labellush.com. It definitely can be a disappointment to find something that is not available in your size, but remember when you do find something you will be more than thrilled. For an extra thrill, labellush.com is offering an additional 30% off all orders over $150 until October 31, 2009. Enter promo code FF30150.

New Balance 769 Running Shoe: Shop for a Cause

New Balance 769 Running Shoe
New Balance 769 Shoe

$99.95
Available at: nordstrom.com

What: New Balance 769 Running Shoe

Who Benefits: New Balance will donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of this shoe to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Why You Want It: Who doesn't need a new pair of exercise sneakers? Personally, I know mine are all thrashed, but I hate spending money on shoes that are solely for exercise purposes. Argh, I'd rather put the money towards new Loubies. Seems like such a waste to me. But, knowing that part of my money was going to a great cause would definitely make me feel a lot better about the whole thing. And, when it comes to finding running shoes that are a little more fashionista-friendly than most, you can't do much better than New Balance.

I don't know much about what makes one running shoe better than the other, so I'll just quote the NB folks... this "Lightweight mesh trainer offers optimal cushioning and moderate stability for a highly responsive ride. Lightning Dry lining helps keep feet cool and dry during long runs." Sounds quality. I'll bite.

E.K. Asks: Shoes for "Hobbit Feet"?

Wednesday, October 21, 2009 • Permalink •

My feet are hobbit feet – short and wide. One foot measures-in at 4.5, the other at 5 (at least they did the last time I had them measured around 6 years ago). But they’re wide, so I’ve adapted to wearing size 6 shoes to accommodate the girth and to give my feet an extra half-size to wiggle around in the shoe.

They just don’t make shoes that are 5-wides. You get up into the size 9s and 10s and you can find wide widths, but not for the smaller sizes. Well, let me qualify that… I could get orthopedic shoes or other granny-type shoes in a 5-wide, maybe, but those are just plain ugly. I may have the temperament of a crotchety granny, I may have the viewpoints shared by grannies alike, I may drive like a granny, but really, do I need to dress like one too?

-- E.K.

Dearest E.K.,

Don't despair. Granny shoes are so not necessary. Yes, it can be hard to locate cute shoes that are suitable for small yet wide feet, but it's not impossible. In fact, some labels-- like Stuart Weitzman-- specialize in fabulous shoes for hard-to-fit feet, and the online store Endless.com stocks a ton of special sizes. I've rounded up a nice selection of certifiably fabulous shoes for both work and play. They are fun and fashionable... and every pair is available in size 5W. Happy Shopping!

SJ Interview: The City's Roxy Olin Talks Fashion Faves

Wednesday, October 21, 2009 • Permalink •

Roxy Olin - The City
photo: mtv.com
Living life in the big city can be a shock for any West Coast girl making the big move, but for some - it's just meant to be! If you've been keeping track of your favorite girls from MTV's hit series The City, then you've met the newest addition to the drama, Roxy Olin.

The City airs on MTV Tuesdays at 10:30pm ET/PT and covers the life of Whitney Port and other characters Erin Kaplan, Olivia Palermo, Samantha Swetra and of course, Roxy. I am personally obsessed! Lucky us, we got the exclusive with the newest addition, Roxy Olin herself!

You and Whitney were friends in high school... now that you've left Cali behind, how is filming changing your life so far? And how are you loving NYC?

My life has changed a lot while doing this. I have moved, I have a roommate, and a full time job! I am loving New York...it's sooooo fun! I’m a real night owl so I’m loving the night life... everything’s open till 4am! I also love walking around, in LA I feel so isolated in my car.

What did you do before joining the cast of "The City"?

Before “The City” I was auditioning, taking classes and being a mom to my dog Benzo.

Luckily for you, Whitney got you a job at People's Revolution. Your assertive attitude with Kelley Cutrone seems to be positive so far - will we see you climbing the ranks?

Well, I think Kelly and I are a lot alike so she takes me under her wing, but at the same time she can be extra hard on me. I’m not good with authority but I’m learning. :)

What is your fashion style? Who are your favorite designers?

I like an edge. I’m a huge fan of leather jackets and an Alexander Wang or vintage T and tights with a serious pair of heels. I love jewelry – that’s one way I've been very blessed, my best friend since I was five and my godmother is Cathy Waterman so I would always play dress up in her office with the most magical jewels you have ever seen...AMAZING!!!!!! My favorite designers are: Alexander Wang, Alexander McQueen, Rag and Bone, Paige Jeans, Isaac Mizrahi, and Michael Kors, Balmain. (Just to name a few;))

What are some of your favorite designs for fall?

I love thigh high boots!

What do you see in your crystal ball for the future for your career/tv?

Hmm... I am so open to wherever the wind blows. I want to do something with jewelry. If I can dream BIG... one day I hope to be in a Quentin Tarantino film. I’m obsessed with him ("True Romance" is my bible). I also hope one day to direct and be behind the camera.
Don't forget to keep up with the girls every Tuesday night after The Hills on MTV!

Fall Fashion: Embellished Shoes

Charles by Charles David Spicy Pump
Charles by Charles David Spicy Pump

This season shoes are the ultimate accessory. Shoes are holding their own, embellished with everything from feathers to buckles. Bedazzled jewels are also the best way to transform office attire to a nighttime worthy look. Whether you are wearing denim or black slacks, the shoes will be doing all the talking.

In order to slowly transition from strappy sandals to boots, I vouched for some toe revealing shoes with enough attitude to handle colder weather with the amount of heat they give off! Girls, I have some major sassy, outfit-altering shoes. Whether you believe in foot décor now, you will once you see some of the dolled up styles. With the designers’ creative juices flowing and thanks to Nordstrom’s great selection, there is a lot of glamour to fight off.

L.A.M.B. Lesley Sandal
L.A.M.B. Lesley Sandal

$355.00
Available at: nordstrom.com

Talk about some vixen shoes! This Charles by Charles David ‘Spicy’ Pump is named well-- very true to character. You don’t need much of an outfit to look great when wearing this pair. Dark denim and a crisp white collared shirt accompanied by a trench, and this red thrilling pair will not only create liveliness, but also maintain it! The sheer, textured ruffles winding down over the foot gives these peep toes a fantastic look. A look of mystery and pure glamour is what you will be exuding.

Wild child Betsey Johnson has always loved decorating her shoes with extraordinary, dazzled up décor. She definitely believes in the power of women’s feet, and truly expresses it with the Betsey Johnson ‘Keilor’ Sandal. It’s a fall/winter acceptable sandal. The color is bright, which is a perfect fit for gloomy weather and a great match for a black cocktail dress. The shoes are glossy patent overlay and have a geometric design that really pops over the satin. The color and design are as charming as they get.

My ultimate woo-hoo shoes are accessible and available thanks to another funky design by L.A.M.B. The ‘Lesley’ sandal is so gorgeous, I mean, I just want to stare at them. The speckled feathers and mirrored paillettes that embellish the heel, along with the ruffled forefoot strap, make this shoe unbelievably feminine and whimsical.

It’s all about showing the world you’re stepping towards the ticking time with style. Whether you’re dancing, eating or just chatting it up, don’t be afraid to show a little foot-- especially one wrapped in undeniably sultry décor.

$595.00

I feel like I've been slacking a little on the Gossip Girl fashion front. While the fashions have been top notch so far this season, it's still late summer in Gossip Girl world, while I'm itching for fall weather-- which has been slow to roll in here in the San Francisco area. So, I'm back to wading through set photos from the taping of upcoming episodes to find some fab fall fashion to love.

This Gossip Girl set photo shows off some great early fall style. Leighton Meester as Blair was spotted in a cape-style plaid jacket that is perfect for Fall 2009. Paired, as shown here, with skinny black leggings, this jacket is fashion forward and right on trend. But, a more casual look could be achieved with jeans and a favorite pair of boots. You've got to love a wardrobe item that does double duty.

Want to steal Leighton Meester as Blair's Gossip Girl style for yourself? She's wearing the brand new Nevalis Plaid Jacket from Theory. This chic jacket features wide, three-quarter sleeves with a high collar and leather-backed belt that ties or buckles. Fun, right? Yay for Gossip Girl coming through on the fab fall fashion ideas.

SALE: Prada Cracked Leather Pumps 20% Off

Prada talc crackled leather pointed to pumps
Prada Cracked Leather Pump

$440.00 (was $550-- save 20%!)
Available at: bluefly.com

I'm experiencing a love at first site moment. I ran across these Prada Talc Cracked Leather Pumps while doing a window shopping drive-by in the Bluefly New Arrivals section and couldn't browse another page. Instantly I found myself mentally re-arranging my monthly budget to find a way to buy these pumps on the spot. I'm still working on that one.

These gorgeous pumps are crafted from off-white cracked leather, perched on a 4.5" covered heel. Now, I've seen cracked leather before. In fact, I have a lovely pair of white cracked leather strappy sandals from Miss Sixty. But, I've never seen cracked leather that is this exquisite. The finish on these pumps reminds me of the amazing Renaissance art that hangs in the Galleria degli Uffizi in Florence, Italy. Renaissance paintings and frescos are invariably covered in tiny cracks which, from a distance, appear like a grey patina. Up close, these cracks are tiny and varied like snowflakes-- almost a kind of naturally occuring art in and of themselves. These Prada Cracked Leather Pumps mimic that effect perfectly. I'm in love.

Click on the photo to link directly to where you can purchase the Prada Talc Cracked Leather Pumps online and on sale. But, if you snag the last pair of size 38s before I figure out my budget, I might cry. You've been warned.

What: Ella Moss Breast Cancer Research Foundation Top

Who Benefits: Ella Moss will donate $5 from the sale of each top to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation

Why You Want It: Hip fashion label Ella Moss, designed by LA native Pamella Protzel Scott, was propelled head-first into the mega label fame game when an early design-- a green striped dress-- was sported by Carrie Bradshaw on SATC. Ella Moss designs fit like the most amazing vintage find ever-- all soft and perfectly draped cottons and similarly cozy fabrics-- but with a polish that can take you to work. Ella Moss also has a significant celeb following, being regularly worn by starlets with great taste like Gwyneth Paltrow, Cameron Diaz, Kirsten Dunst, and Liv Tyler.

For example, I just got an offer for a free $9 trial size lip plumper with any purchase, and that’s just a small example. I have friends who have been Beauty Insiders longer who get free makeup sessions, free brushes and all kinds of fun trial size products. I love being able to try new products without having to purchase them. I get a couple emails a month informing me about certain promotions, which almost always entice me. I know it sounds dangerous, but it’s a fun kind of danger!

It’s nice enough buying makeup from a place with a vast selection of upscale makeup, skincare, and fragrance products that can be hard to find anywhere else, and in addition to this, you get to play with different kinds of products and/or get a mini size of your favorite beauty product for a business trip or weekend getaway. One of my favorite mascaras is Supernova Mascara by Fresh. I mean, talk about thick, high-voltage lashes. I definitely always have it in my makeup drawer. You don’t have to worry about lining the inner corner of your eyes with white on a blah day with this mascara. It will surely make your eyes pop and give your lashes the dramatic, full-of-life look. With the Fresh Magic Wands Mini Mascara Duo you get two mini Fresh mascaras: the Supernova is the dark, thickening one; the other is the Firebird, which gives lashes a feathery look.

The next item comes in handy in more than one way. The Clinique Breast Cancer Awareness Great Lips, Great Cause keychain is perfect. Never be without gloss again! The keychain has two charms on it: the Breast Cancer pink ribbon and the Clinique “C.” There are 3 mini SPF 15 lip glosses attached. The best part is $10 of the purchase price will be donated to the Breast Cancer foundation during the month of October, so hurry!

My ultimate favorite and most life-changing crème is the L’Occitane ultra rich creams. My dad is the one who first introduced me to this stuff! Sephora offers an exclusive Hands Delice Set with three 1oz L’Occitane hand creams. I carry one in my purse and another in my car at all times. The set contains the cherry blossom, lavender, and shea butter creams. The antioxidant-rich vitamin E and other luxurious ingredients make your hands feel soft and look restored after one time use. Start healing and protecting your skin now-- you can tell a lot by a persons hands!

Fall Fashion: The Faux Fur Vest

Wednesday, October 14, 2009 • Permalink •

Members Only Faux Fur Vest

$98.00
Available at: nordstrom.com

I know it sounds kind of weird, but there's this big faux fur trend sweeping fashionista circles. By "faux fur trend" I don't mean a fur trend, and eco-conscious fashion types are interpreting that to mean faux fur. Nope. I mean the actual trend is fur-that-isn't-fur. As in, if you wore the real stuff, you'd be missing the trend boat. And the trend within the trend is the faux fur vest, which is suddenly the fall outerwear accessory to have.

Faux fur vests are everywhere, and cover a wide variety of styles and price points. I've seen everything from faux fur that's meant to look super obviously fake (neon colors, crazy pseudo-animal prints that do not exist in nature) to high end faux that's almost indistinguishable from the real deal. The faux fur vest has become a central piece in many lines, like the new Rachel Zoe for QVC, and has even filtered down to key mass retailers like Express and Forever 21. This is one trend that has caught on quick and is spreading like wildfire. Do you have a fabulous faux fur in your Fall closet? If not, you may already be behind the times... and we wouldn't want that, would we?

One of my favorite faux finds is the Members Only Faux Fur Vest, pictured at left. It is perfectly shaggy and suitably luxe, but priced affordably. Paired with jeans, a tee and some chunky gold jewelry, you'll be vibing Hollywood starlet in no time. Click on the photo to link directly to where you can purchase the Members Only Faux Fur Vest online. Or, check out some more great Faux Fur Vests below, which are all fabulous and range in price from $49.95 to $795:

While I support the underlying cause, I hardly ever wear the tees. But, leave it to Charlotte Russe to add some youthful fun to supporting a worthy cause. The Support the Cause tee features a distressed, '70s-style logo print on a fitted v-neck tee-- a far cry from your standard printed charity tee. This is a shop for a cause tee that you'll actually want to wear in real life.

Fashion Cents: The Leggings Trend

Wednesday, October 14, 2009 • Permalink •

--By Kimberly Turner

Leggings, one of the biggest trends this fall season, are sure to be a staple in your wardrobe. Not only are they reasonably priced and comfortable but you can wear them with almost everything -- from dresses to boyfriend sweaters to motorcycle jackets. Plus, they are appropriate for almost every occasion. You can wear sequined leggings after-5 and plain ones with a cute sweater to the movies.

Now you’ve got great reasons to indulge in this trend but let’s make sure you wear them so that your fashion makes sense. Here are two very important things to consider before wearing leggings:

1) Does the top compliment your shape? If you are wider on the bottom, you DO NOT want form fitting short tops. Choose a top that has wider shoulders and hits mid hip; this will help to balance you out.

2) Do you need to CYA (cover your assets)? When leggings are too sheer and too short, people are likely to see more of you than you’d like. Make sure you chose leggings with the right opacity.

Check out the video for visuals of these considerations and make sure you have a “leg up” on this trend before you wear it. Make sense?
